Some of the parts say "backorder no eta."

I agree, I think we'll end up near 25K since I'm going to be a PITA if I elect repair.

That was going to be my concern. I assume they gave no timeframe for completion?

I am as concerned on (lack of) availability of parts to repair my G42 M240.

No time frame yet. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow. The shop can't even start for several weeks because of their own schedule. I've resigned myself to her being down the rest of the driving season for me.

If you start going through withdrawals come out and meet me in the Catskills. We can do a M2 vs Model 3P winding road real world review.

After thinking through and sleeping on the options, including taking the repair money and selling "as is," I decided to move forward with repairs.

Looking at the estimate and work involved, it just isn't that bad, as many of you pointed out.

And, as I have stated, I bought the car to drive the wheels off of. I certainly wasn't trying to keep miles low for the "next owner." None of that changes just because it had an accident. I can still drive the piss out of it and the wheels off of it.

I'm not abandoning her so soon, I love her too much.

Thanks all.

Just to keep the saga updated since I can't drive right now, I have to say, State Farm is getting dumped ASAP.

So last week they asked the shop to write an estimate since State Farm's database wasn't updated. The shop provided that estimate yesterday, as noted earlier about 19K.

Today, State Farm said "well no no, we did our estimate on Friday and it is just over 6K."

The guy at the shop correctly admonished the adjuster for wasting his and my time. He said their estimate is "wildly inaccurate," and he's right, none of their part numbers are correct, and no where near enough to fix the car. State Farm said "You can just follow the supplement process now."

Mother fuckers are going to make this painful.

I also just spoke to shop, as I reported before, it's going to be about 6 weeks before they can even get to disassembly. At least it'll be done right.

Also with State Farm. $3,000.00 for 6months.
I will be ditching them as well.

I hate the fact that I was right about SF. Same thing they did to me a couple of years back. With me a medal shard flew off of a open dump truck and hit my hood and cracked the windshield. I had taken it to a Mercedes repair shop (I had a GLE at the time) and they refused to cover what they called "excessive" labor hours and "excessive" paint costs. The funny thing is we were probably talking about a difference of $2k. After that ordeal I dropped them like a bad habit. That was not the only thing either. Every time the shop had to send them a supplement it was an issue and it dragged the repair out for weeks on end. Just remember to breathe as you're in for a battle. They also refused to pay for factory branded glass even though the car was only 1 year old at the time. Just re-thinking the process pisses me off. Good Luck buddy and hope it does go smoother.

My 330i went up significantly with SF for no good reason. I'm already worried about what they're gonna quote me with the M2 coming I have a feeling I'm gonna ditch them too

Big car Insurance companies have unethical practices, in their business model it is okay to loose loyal customers over a payout on a large claim.

They target new subscribers to fill in for clients leaving.

It is a circus but things will turn alright for you.

Must be a way around this. Is it a SF qualified shop? They approved my repair - one door, one wheel, a frame piece. $4k materials, $12k labor IIRC. Of course the other party was at fault and my $1k deductible subrogation has gone to arbitration. $6k vs $18k is unreal.

Yeah, thats f'uped. Lady who hit my car had Safeco. Their initial estimate for my M240 was $3,300 and that was done by a virtual estimate (I had to take pictures and upload to them) with a disclaimer that they understand it may go up once they disassemble the car.

I have Traveler's and happy to pay their premium.

USAA is no better.

A few years ago I had a Mclaren 570 and it got hit by a semi. The damage was not that bad, but the car has to be fixed at an authorized service center...and there are only about 50 in the country. I brought it to the Coachworks at Mclaren Philly. Well....USAA pays a "Shop rate" of $45/hr. Mclaren needs $200/hr to do the work. So we were at an impasse.
My beef with USAA (and all insurance corps) is that they took my bet, made me pay exorbitant premiums, but then would not fulfill their end of the bargain. Eventually I sent my attorney and the NJ State Insurance commission after them. My car sat for 4 months while they fought me and the shop.

Insurance is a ponzi scheme. In Florida, labor rates for insurance claims are $50/hour and that is standard. Repair shops know this and dont fight the rates (cause they cant win), they play with other figures such as allotted hours to bring the $$ where they should be.

Since SF wants to play fuck fuck games I'm going to be a PITA to the end. Nit picking everything. Demanding they replace every little scratched thing. Replace PPF. Etc. I may not win on all of it, but I'm not going to make it easy on them.

Then I'm dumping them.

I may actually hire a lawyer.
