I'm
So
Tired

I had cataract surgery Friday. I was wiped out Friday and Saturday, but now it's Thursday. Could it be I'm still feeling the after effects of the anesthesia? Someone shoot me.

You are seeing the world thru new eyes??? No wonder you are worn out. Soon, the bleary vision of the world around you, especially other drivers, will reduce your visual input enough that you can sleep again.

Happy to hear you have had it done. Have you scheduled the other eye or is it not bad enough to do yet? Are they going to do a mono-vision type set up, like they did with me? How was your doctor? Do you like him/her?

No, it's bad. Dr told me he didn't know how I was functional. I have my follow up Saturday and will schedule the other eye. The mono-vision doesn't work for me. I tried the mono contacts a few years back and they made me crazy. I have multi focal. It's amazing. The grey fog is gone, everything is so much brighter and the edges of objects are crisp and clear again. I just feel off balance, with one eye so clear and the other still a fog. I still see the halos around lights, I'm hoping that eventually goes away.

I love the Dr. He's very personable, and spends time with me. I don't feel rushed. The procedure was a bit bizarre. It was like Lucy in the sky with diamonds - a psychedelic trip with all those crazy colors and shapes.

Yeah, the doctor makes a big difference. I see mine twice a year. It's been more than ten years now. She is truly wonderful.

I found it hard holding still during the surgery. A little nerve racking. Glad it's done. Whew!

When "you start going to more funerals than weddings." Another friend & neighbor passed away yesterday. He didn't want a funeral or service of any kind, so I won't really be going to one, but this makes 6 people we know or are related to who have died within 6 months. Two were COVID-related, the others were illness or just old age.

Peace be with you. You should be done for now; bad things come in 3's.

I had a similar week a few Febs ago. Big bro had a stroke (pulled plug shortly), mom died two days later (we didn't tell her about her first son), and bro in law had a stroke that paralyzed one side & put him in a wheel chair & nursing home (we are now primary caretakers).
Our alcohol consumption has been higher since....

Sorry for your losses, but I would urge you not to take it out on the alcohol. That will only rush your own fate. Let your kids, and especially your grandkids be your motivating force. Peace.

Remember having the hotel front desk set up a “wake up call” and then getting a call in the morning “this is your wake up call”?

I was trying to think of that yesterday when I saw upstatedoc's post but I couldn't remember the first part, which was "two all beef patties." lol

Guess I'm too damn old because my memory failed me.

It would have come to you eventually. You just need to wait until the needle hits that place on the record in your brain.

Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night because I remembered something that drove me crazy all day.

You're probably right.

Google doesn't help either. It just makes us lazy.
