I was getting worried about a crazy long delay with M2 allocations so started looking at buying a lightly used M3/M4. Came across this one and was about to jump on it given the MSRP option list. But after some back and forth with the dealer I was able to confirm it was a car from the Performance Center. It’s not a CPO and given it’s been tracked hard, I think I’m going to pass.

You will not be disappointed. Just keep up the faith! |

FYI, PC cars have more far than 2000 miles placed on them prior to being rotated out, gone through and sent to auction. Each and every PC vehicle goes through the proper break-in period before being placed into PC service as well. The PC tends to be keep for them 6000 to 8000 miles, but there are some supply variables that play a factor with that. |

When I was at the M school, the head instructor actually gave all of us a run down of the sales of the M cars after they are done their duties - apparently the mechanics and engineers at the PC (who are top notch) will thoroughly maintain and replace every single part needed to make the car tip top again. They really stand by the refurbishing process, all come with warranty IIRC.
However, I also witnessed 2 M cars breakdown due to some ppl launching the hell out of them and shifting wildly at the school (one was like 19 years old and frequently went off the track) |

TUD is correct they follow break-in procedures and the instructors drive them on the street until they hit 1,200 miles. Then they join the track car fleet. This is not a PCD car that they drive on the track. Also, the carfax said this car was put into service almost two years ago this March, only about 100 miles per month. PCD track duty will do that in a day or two. Once again dealers probably not giving out all the facts. |

Not sure why the dealer would lie about it being a PC car. He also said it was “used at the factory”.. whatever that means. He said break in service was done at 830 miles and 1yr service was done at 1400 miles.
Anyways we can end the convo on this. Didn’t mean to go off topic for more than a post since there had been some possibility of M2 allocations being delayed but seems maybe next week is the week they will start to be announced here in the US. |

Am I the idiot for thinking that 2,000 hard track miles still isn't a big deal? My guess is that the PC cars are very well maintained and inspected constantly. I would buy this. But then again, maybe I'm the idiot.

They also have PPF installed as well. It is typically removed prior to auction though.

When did they quit doing manuals at the PC? I’ve driven more than one there, though the last time was in 2008 so I’m way out of date.

My guess is it was the 1 series M that was the last manual car there, so 2012 was probably it

Stay very far away from PC cars - go do a PC day or equivalent M track day and see how they're treated. That's day in and day out mostly people who really don't know how to drive.

Tomorrow is the rumored date of first allocations in the US. Looking forward to putting that to rest one way or the other.

If it is the case that the first customer-configurable US allocations are hitting much closer to the April launch, it’s time to concede that production of non-demo cars has in fact been delayed by several months as indicated by the guys on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. Back in October, after the official reveal and when the start of production was confirmed to be 12/2022, the expectation was that these allocations were coming last year, with actual deliveries starting in the Spring/April. That schedule is in line with practically every other launch, including both the G42 and G80/82 launches. First non-HEA US allocations in the Spring represents a huge delay. |
