Interestingly I saw someone post saying the 2024 models came with the protection installed now... my center is still wide open, but it does appear to be protection on the left and right intakes.

I asked my salesman about the opening, knowing about all of this... he is a BME genius and stated that if something did happen, like a rock, it was covered by warranty. Now knowing the outcome of the OP.. not sure I believe him, but maybe things have changed?

What kind of protection is on your left and right intake? Our lot just got an M2 dropped. I'll see what's there, but I suspect it hasn't changed.

Unfortunately your genius is incorrect. A rock hitting your vehicle will not be a warranty repair, regardless of what part it hits.

My 2024 AT G87 side intakes radiators are silver metal color but I could see there are black frames in front of the silver metal part of the radiator.

All the M2s have the little black plastic covers, but they are thin plastic. I have held one in my hand. Can can spread the plastic fins apart easily and push your finger through. It offers little to no protection, as a rock went right through mine.

I snapped some photos of the side and of the middle.

Checked these out and they look nice. Anyone aware of any discount codes? $40 for shipping is excessive.

This is the standard protection that has come on all of the G8X auxiliary radiators.

I thought they were metal but of course I didn't take a screw driver to test it. So it is not anything new. I wish they did the same for the center as well though.

Looks great! Pretty pricey for a skid plate. Do you think it provides sufficient protection with cooler still somewhat exposed? Would something like the ZunSport grille fit underneath the skid plate?

Now THAT is a cool thought and one I would be willing to try.. (need to get a Turner plate of course) but I love that idea!

i got everything in the mail. $40 shipping is excessive but at least it was next day air. maybe shoot them a note and ask if you can UPS ground ship them for less.

they seem pretty robust for what they are. its 3D printed plastic for sure but definitely enough to stop debris. the main one is held in by screws on the OEM mounting points (no hardware included, ofc) and the two side ones appear to have adhesive around the outside that you'll peel off the wrapper and stick it in there. anyones guess how that will hold up all winter.

Ill have some time this weekend to get them in see how well everything fits... they have been responsive so far FWIW

Here’s my rationale. With factory/port installed options and tint/front lip/ mirror cap additions, I’m in for about $75K (give or take). With that in mind, whether I spend $450 for a Mishimoto skid plate or $807 for the Turner Motor Sports version (which protects the entire bay unlike the Mishimoto) is inconsequential based on that $75K. The difference in price, to me, is worth additional protection and general piece of mind. I’m comfortable with the afforded protection. YMMV

I did message them and they offered discounted shipping. Placed the order

I ordered the ZunSports for my wife's X3MC and they are quality metal, but I'm not thrilled with how they attach. They're in place but I imagine if a decent sized rock or debris hit them at highway speeds they would end up inside the openings.

After reading through this entire thread it reminded me of the C8 Corvette issue. Same thing with the big radiator openings up front and on the sides. Aftermarket came out with grilles & Corvette chief engineer cautioned that they would restrict airflow & possibly void the warranty. Then GM licensed the aftermarket grilles, sells them as an official GM accessory and miraculously they no longer restrict airflow or void the warranty, lol. Maybe BMW will do the same.

Unfortunately there is no protection for the auto transmission cooler. On the manual cars, there is also cheap plastic on the main radiator. Again, the cheap plastic doesn't help anything, so you aren't missing out.

So the front bumper cover still has to come off for the center section install correct?

I contacted them and they offered a reduced shipping. Was looking at Zunsport but dont like hidding the vertical bars (to each their own). Now waiting to get the MHC air vents to change everything at the same time. Let us know how it goes, pictures are even better!

yea, the center needs the bumper cover to come off, but the sides could probably be done without pulling it. i fooled around with it a bit yesterday and just got a little iffy about doing it solo on a brand new car (I know i am being a wuss about it, if anyone has a good DIY thread on removing the cover please pass along). sorry for the inaction here folks

two updates here. for the stradale kit, first, i had it backwards, the center could probably be done without removing the bumper, but the sides would require removal.

second, i ran by my body shop for an assessment. his take was that due to the design of bumper and integration of the parking sensors, is that its going to be a PITA job which confirmed my fears yesterday when i was poking around and trying to test fit. his guess was a few hours between him and i to get it right, so ill be waiting to install for a week or so until he can give me some time to get it done.

The parking sensors have harnesses that just unclip from behind. Shouldn't be that difficult to remove the front fascia. I was hesitant the first time on my Z06, but I've now had that bumper off multiple times.
