Isn't the M on the calipers standard even on cars with the M Sport package?

I can't think of a way to phrase it but if you know the Motorsport Division history then you'll know. If you think an M550i is an M5 you probably/most likely know nothing about the brand.

I agree and I think this is a fair assessment.

But I also think of it this way - imagine if all of a sudden 17 other forum members all changed their usernames to some iteration of ItsGary, like ItsGary2.0, etc... People who have been around for a while would likely know the difference but others and newcomers wouldn't necessarily know the difference and they likely wouldn't care. All of the poser ItsGary users might start posting uniformed or outlandish things and before you know it, the original ItsGary, although decidedly different and original, would just be roped in and lost in the mess of random indecipherable ItsGary names floating around.
