I always assumed when he said "hot Italian" it was "spicy Italian sausage".

Italy has so many variations of the "sausage" it's amazing. Salssiccia!!! Luganega!!! Salama!!!

Also love Aidells sausages (chicken) and Teton. I don't know if they are available by you but definitely worth a peek. Both companies have tons of different flavors. For those store bought times when you don't go to butcher.

Again, nothing against JJ. I was born and raised in NYC. In my 20s, I started working in NJ. They would order Italian hot dogs for lunch. WTF is that? I can understand calling sausages Italian hot dogs. But a hot dog with with whatever, I don’t get.

Truthfully, I think it's just out of simplicity and make things sounds fancier than they are.

"Italian hot dog" is a lot shorter than -
"Spicy cooked uncured pork Polish Kielbasa Sausage."

That's what I'm leaning towards. It's only 12:45 so I got time to change my mind again, depending on what foods people post.
