There is a Zaandvort Blue manual car at Canterbury which I drove yesterday.
It is a considerably better looking car in the flesh. Its size and width don't translate well in photos. I liked it, although the rear wheels look like they sit slightly too far inside the wheel arches. Spacers could fix that I guess. The seating position (this car has standard seats) feels lower than the F87, and the overall interior atmosphere is a huge leap forward. Inside the car, it feels like you're driving a smaller car than what this really is. I can't say much about the drive. I was the first one to test drive it and I won't thrash a car I don't own and it was in surburban streets. You hear the turbo noise a lot, which I enjoyed, . The suspension is more supple than the F87, which for me, crashes over the bumps. I dunno, I liked it but wasn't blown away. The changeover cost is also huge. For context, I have an M2 Comp so that's my baseline comparison. Last edited by J15; 06-18-2023 at 12:47 AM.. |

100%. Shipping is atleast 3 weeks and then presuming another month wait at the ports here so we're looking at mid August at the earliest. I'm very tempted to cancel and just go with an MY24 version with the frozen portimao blue

Another guy I know has had his M3 going up and down the East coast on a Ship for nearly a month now, no word when it will actually dock and unload. This is why Shipping companies won't even do a manifest for anymore new cars coming to Australia. It's absolutely bonkers. |

Confirmed MY24 will include Portimao Blue and Frozen Grey. Been concinved to hold out until mid July. Will make a decision then.
Edit - To add, the MY24s are July build. Compelling. |

If you go for 2024 - realistically you may not see a car until late 2024. I can't imagine the shipping issues improving much in the next 12 months. |

Couple of small changes with the MY24 version 1. Portimao Blue and a Grey are additional colours 2. Controls for aircon vents in the back are taken away 3. M sport colours go away on the key fob 4. There's one more that I have now forgotten - was something to do with interior aesthetic/plastic. Surprisingly, 3 series cars are still coming through (as per the dealer) so I'm very confused why the M2 is being delayed.. I'm guessing the issues at the ports will soon get better, but yeah, an order for an MY24 build could go well into 2024, and negates the depreciation impact. Decisions, decisions. |

The M2s are going from the USA to Bremerhaven where they are handed over to distribution to then be shipped to Australia. |

There will come a point where logistics will have to catch up, unless we are saying we have settled for a new norm of getting certain cars a year later than the rest of the world, which doesn't make sense long term.

Update on my car, for reference it finished build on the 21st April. My sales adviser tells me it’s on a boat (Parsifal) and due to get to Melb on the 30th July, so mid August for it to get here in Tas (assuming the ports are less cooked by then?)
It interesting that the boat doesn’t actually go to Mexico, so the car must have been either sent to Savannah, or sent to Panama, where it would be picked up in a couple of days time. I assume since the BMW system says it’s on that boat, it actually is? Anyway, nice to hear any news on its whereabouts lol |
