Hehe, I am just getting warmed up. I learned to bake when I was in rehab after my accident. Since then, I break out my stand mixer between November and December and make around 2,000 cookies (and various attempts at fudge as we'll). I actually eat very little of what I make, as I have to watch my blood sugar levels, but everybody loves sitting near me at work this time of year.
I also enjoy taking pictures of my creations, but my kitchen is a lighting challenge. Getting the white balance correct for food is tough, and I'm no speed light expert either. I still give it my best though. The pumpkin cookies were a big hit fwiw. |

Kestrels are a favorite of mine.
I went out in the snow hoping to catch a big ole buck in a big snow fall. I did catch a big buck, running at a full gallop and jumping a fence, BUT I couldn't get a single shot in focus because of the heaviness of the snow. Instead, I got this coyote walking in a light snow: Coyote In Snow by dcstep, on Flickr

BTW, I'll be in SF next week to visit my youngest daughter that lives in the Haight/Asbury area. As you know, it's all gentrified these days. Her company sends a coach to pick them up in the city and take them out to Mountain View. She's living the dream, except for the outrageous taxes. No doubt, my schedule will be very full for the holiday, but maybe we could get together on a future trip. Dave

Ah, she rides the Google Bus.
Enjoy your trip. I have family up from LA next week and will be playing tour guide myself. If you get free time, Pt Reyes, where the elk herd and raptors live is but a short drive over the bridge. There is also a car show going on right I the city Thanksgiving week. I have been going to that on Black Friday for years instead of shopping. Whatever you do, have fun! |

I 500mm lens and shooting from my "car blind" helps a lot.
