Haven’t posted in a minute. Did a full health check in engine and trans that includes a compression test. Just because is the answer if anyone is asking.

Just because- I sent my ECU out today to get the FEMTO treatment and wanted to make sure my engine and trans (manual) were good to go with no issue that could be blamed on a tune if anything went wrong.

BM3 ACN 91 Stage 2 (unfortunately ACN until I do the fuel system upgrades).

Still deciding downpipes. Unsure if Evolution Racewerkes is the way to go, or if I do an HJS or Gesi even though tuning and CEL doesn’t matter.

LMK if you have an opinion here.

Good times incoming.

I’d go Gesi cats. Expensive, but I’m so beyond being over the smell and drone of catless DP’s.

I have Evolution Racewerks 200 cell highflow downpipes and highly recommend them.

Dude - glad you did the silver tips! They look FANTASTIC against the FPB! Nice!! Only difference in our exhaust set up in the midpipe selection.

Honestly I had the same reaction to xpel stealth even on Black Sapphire Metallic it was like you could see the film on it and you lost the depth of the paint. I was excited to do satin, but the example left me disappointed so I just went full gloss.
Do the engine dress up stuff & the CF gas cap. Every time I get gas, the CF cap is a nice touch. And the G87 engine bay (well, all BMW engine bays) are so boring and plasticky, anything you dress up looks great.

Throttle response and turbo spool is on par also I suppose. I spent a lot of time researching the best downpipes and what is necessary (and not) with a tune.

I came down to 200cel and not needing Gesi or HJS premiums, just all around great quality.

My builder knows the owner and was very familiar with thier product.

Yes, response is fabulous but to be honest, its the whole package (catback, Eventuri intake, trans tuned and full stage 2 custom tuned on e40).

Finished my engine bay dress up with the titanium strut braces (purchased from a forum member - thanks M2 CCO !!).

Billet caps all around
CF Engine cover
CF terminal cover
CF cooling shroud ( but I think the OEM one is structural - it's very heavy duty. Might switch back to that after powder coating.)
MAD cold air intake
Titanium strut brace
Down Star engine dress up kit

Might still be a lot of plastic in that engine bay, but it looks much nicer & less toy-like when the hood is open at car meets.

How do you like your MAD CAI? I'm putting mine on as soon as I get the car back from PPF.

Just need a shiney or powder coated CSF manifold now

Also what are people doing to expose all the bolts for the strut brace? Just trimming the plastic cover off?

I was wondering about one of those manifolds because I HATE the plastic OEM one... I would think given how hot the engine bay gets, a metal manifold would bake & just soak up the heat. I figured the plastic one with that checkerboard treatment is made that way for better cooling (?) What are your thoughts on that? (Did you replace your manifold? Post a pic? )

The plastic trim cover by the strut brace/strut at the top is still there. Only one of the bolts is exposed and gets the Downstar dress-up bolt & washer. The OEM one is still used on the one that is under the trim.

Maybe other folks are cutting the trim and exposing that bolt after buying additional dress-up ones from Downstar, so you might have seen that. But their kit does not include replacements for the ones under the trim. I, for one, wouldn't cut that trim piece just to expose & dress up that bolt.

I want a CSF but 7k is kind of crazy. Its proven to keep temps much lower though.

I will eventually do Femto and BM3. Looking forward to your results! You doing a custom tune or OTS? Dyno tuning?

Regarding downpipes, I want the ability to flash back to stock for NYS inspection and be emissions ready, no CEL and pass inspection and I thought the AA downpipes were the only ones to accomplish this but I could be wrong.
