All's gonna be happy faces but with gnashing teeth. Wouldn't be surprised if some hypothetical marketing promo memo could state stuff like "he is very experienced", "he knows the RBR team inside out", "he gives valuable feedback to the team", "he has a good relationship with his team mate Max", "he will get additional assistance to ensure bringing his A game again in 2025", yadda-yadda. The memo won't say: "at the end of the day, we caved by necessity."

"Red Bull have received more than £100m from Telmex since Sergio Perez joined in 2021."
"Since the early days of his racing career, Perez has been backed by Mexican telecommunications ‘titan’ Telmex. When Red Bull signed him at the end of 2020, they reaped the benefits of this relationship." "According to a report from Brazilian outlet Grande Premio, Telmex have pumped $130m into the team since his arrival. Way too big, way too heavy. We need to go back, those 3L Cossie V8's and the smaller cars are the bees knees. Imagine that the 'back of a bus' Frankenstein car will be well back in a new comparison, so are the FIA on another trip with their wacky baccy roll ups .

I mean, when they extended Checo's contract 1,5 years ago (monaco '23 I believe) with 2 more years, I think everyone here was like: why?!? He already was an underperformer back then for multiple years, so if they signed him back then for the money...they deserve to pay big money if they now want to get rid of him. It was a stupid decision back then, so at some point that has to come back and haunt them. That time is now. Personally I think they should've ditched Checo after the '22 season or at least look for a decent replacement to be ready after his ending contract in '23.

Checo came to RB in '21 as a seasoned veteran of the sport to provide a stable factor next to supertalent (but still young) Max. And in '21 he did forfill that role, and in '22 also to a certain extent. But race after race qualifying performance went down, and crashes became more frequent. It's just a steady downwards spiral, and his last contract was signed because of his sponsors, not because of his performance. Exactly like the drivers you mention.

Not really clear what we’re even looking at here….some AI simulation based upon…? Honestly Max is so much better than his Dad it’s not even close. Is this simulation based upon some sort of telemetry - race or qualifying etc?

Not sure but with the smaller lighter car it's always likely that it would be something like this but even a slight nudge from the bigger car, as there are now, would send the Simtek into the grass.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Slim Slim's son recently said that he didn't understand all the fuss about Perez being 'replaced'. He basically said that, as Perez has a contract, he will be driving for Red Bull in 2025. End of story. Perez and Slim to Horner: "About time to put on your big boy pants, Christian. Let us show you an arm wrestling trick"...

2021 - 4th 2022 - 3rd 2023 - 2nd Sure, his mid-season performance in 2023 was mediocre, he still finished 2nd in the drivers championship. Why should he have left in 2022? Quote:
Yall are just hyped on this because the media keeps posting (lies) about it. You're sucked into it. Take a step back... |
