I have wrestled my whole life, and know that you can't leave it in the referees or judges hands. So really shogun should have known that he was gonna have to win it out right and not give the judges a chance to screw him. I thought it was a close fight and in my opinion shogun should have won. What I think is crazy is that not one judge had him winning! All 3 had it 48-47 machida.

Can't believe the judges scored it for Machida to win the fight. Unbelievable.

i dont know much about MMA, but i watched this fight with my brother who has watched MMA for a long time, even before it was popular. And we both thought Machada lost overwhelmingly.
when it was time for the refs decision, i asked my brother "would you be shocked if Machada won? what would you do if that happened?" he said: "i would be completely SHOCKED if Machada won, and I would be done watching UFC " lol. we'll see if he keeps his word. that decision was worse than any wrigged boxing fight i've ever seen. how can anyone say Machida won 3 rounds. which ones? |

BJ PENN: Lol machida got owned. BTW I bruised his face up when I fought him last time too. GSP: I enjoyed that decision very much but I felt Shogun won it. They need more gnp and take-downs imo. ANDERSON SILVA: (In portuguese) Man that sucks. I really wanted to fight Shogun and now its not gonna happen. BROCK LESNAR: And people think Machida can beat me? WTF MIKE TYSON: Ahhhhhh that UFC match reminded me of how BOXING judges work..ahh the memories Frank Trigg: "Quick somebody call the cops, shogun got robbed" Jamie Varner: "Hands-down worst decision in MMA or even fight history!" Jorge Gurgel: "Wow. I was cheering for Machida, but believe Shogun just got robbed ... That is the very worst feeling in the world. Sucks" Kenny Floran: "I love Machida but Shogun won that fight!!" Efrain Escudero: "I'm sorry but Shogun won that fight easy." Brendan Schaub: "Shogun won that fight." Denis Kang: "Shogun got robbed last night IMO." Joe Doerksen: "Shogun won four rounds out of five ... I am disgusted." Josh Barnett: "I'd say draw but this is why you gotta finish them," reasoned heavyweight Shane Carwin: "Great night of fights. Further proof you have to finish as the judges just can't score MMA." Joe Lauzon: "This is why...You NEVER leave it to the judges! When you finish your opponent, you don't need to worry about judges!" Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thompson seemed in the minority: "Machida won! U have to beat the champ to be the champ and he didn't do that."

I just found this thread (did I post my UFC107 thread in the wrong forum - The Lighter Side?) and I agree with the comments above. Shogun did not get robbed, he didn't finish or clearly defeat Machida, so he didn't deserve the title...period. Robbed is what Buentello was against Struve, IMHO. |

There is no way in hell GSP can cut that low. He's too big. He would not beat him if he was a 155 lber.

considering gsp probably walks around about 185-190 when not cutting weight, losing that weight would be extremely difficult. Even if he did, he'd be so dehydrated he wouldn't perform at his current level

He has an extremely low body fat at 170. It's not like he has anything to lose...

If GSP would want to get to 155 he would have to start amputating limbs, he walks around at 185-190 on weigh in's he goes to 170 and by fight time he's back at or around his normal weight. When GSP fought Alves, Alves was fighting @ 200lbs when he cut to 170 for weigh in

BJ Penn and GSP are best in their own weight classes...period. BJ going up to fight GSP was a mistake. Nice try, but he was out of his league. Doesn't make any sense for GSP to go down to fight BJ.
