Your hard work will be rewarded, but not by your parents. Whatever they choose to reward you with is only supplemental. Realize that you are investing in both yourself and your future and no one owes you anything for that.

To me, the fact that you are asking this on a public forum means there is a bit of pretentiousness to you. At 15 years of age, however, we can only expect so much maturity out of you. As others have said, learn humility. Also, learn about emotional IQ and want vs need. If you make 5-9k a year, you can afford your own car. You're 15 and only think you can handle a lot of power in a car.

Personally, I have a 132 IQ (but act like a dumbass sometimes but that's another story ), but I don't consider it a criteria for any special treatment, especially since my parents didn't do anything about it either, otherwise I'd be in the GATE program in school and a Mensa member... But I DID graduate HS at 16 and received my AS in Computer Information Systems at 19. Doesn't mean shit to society or my parents for that matter unless I get 6 figures in debt and get a Bachelors though... But that too, is another story.

However, regardless of whether you're precociously breaking the scales of high intelligence, or scaling the dizzying heights of Mt. Moron, my personal tenet is that the average child takes hundreds upon thousands to raise, so if anything, you owe them. At the life I've had, I deserve a Rolls-Royce and a house on the hills, but here I am with an 8 year old E90 and struggling to find a reputable job after having 2 jobs in a row cheat me on my pay (but I have a $12K lawsuit + $15K of Worker's Comp pending against my last job; so I got that going for me, which is nice), and despite my mom having multiple 6 figures, she won't throw me a dime if I was near death, let alone a car... But even if she was generous enough to, personally I wouldn't really want it either (but I'll take it ).

I can't say for sure what your parent's viewpoints are, but it's true what they say about valuing a car more if you've bought it on your own, rather than being gifted outright with a car, and I have experienced both; the brand new 2004 Nishit Sencrap I was given was nowhere near what I wanted and it broke down 18 times for the 11 months that I've had it, so towards the end I even laughed off grazing into shopping carts... But I worked my ass off to buy my first car at $1,500; even though it's a loser-esque grandma's car (91 Buick Century), I cringed at the very thought of something bad happening to that, and any car after that (of course, minus the Sentra).

I am sure lots of us here got tons of 4 to 5 pts on Adv placement classes, and took some transferable community college credits during high school.

As for the vehicle, it is up to you. If you can independently pay for insurance, and payment etc, why not. However, I would probably save more $ for extra cost and spending money during undergrad.

No. Unless you have negotiated some type of deal, you should expect no reward other than a quality education and plenty of opportunity so long as you don't feel your entitled.

I told my youngest son, if he gets a full ride, I buy him the production car of his choice upon graduation. He is responsible for everything after that, including insurance, taxes, registration.

I'm gonna add an anecdote in here, OP, so you see what reward you should be seeking. My parents forced me into a private college during my second year out of H.S. I had been attending CC (on full ride scholarship) in my hometown trying to save them money and obtain my A.A.S. before moving onto a bachelors at a public university. My plan was solid and working. They had different ideas. After 1 yr. there and $20K later (that was just tuition, not including room and board) they, my father more specifically, finally listened to me and let me pursue my path as I had laid it from the start. I saved my parents somewhere in the neighborhood of ~$80K by going my route. You know what my reward was for that and what I wanted more than anything? I'd like to think that the savings I provided him helped, in part, pay for the Porsche 911 C2S he had been wanting for as long as I can remember (he purchased it was when I was 29, I am 33 now) or is sitting in their retirement account. The day he sent me the pics of him sitting in the car and that huge ass smile on his face was my reward.

I'm hoping OP has been listening - there should be no "entitlement" feeling from a kid to his parents. I love my parents, and I expect nothing from them, not even an inheritance. They taught me the value of working hard, they brought me up in a good home and loved me - what more can I ask for? I only hope they are able to enjoy themselves in their latter years and reap the rewards of their hard work.

Save for yourself and buy a car - it will be more rewarding knowing you bought it with your hard work. You'll value it more.

You are not "saving" your parents $56,000. They don't have to pay for anything, so that money that you are "saving" them means little to nothing, as they could just choose to let you pay for your schooling yourself, which would result in them not having to pay that $56,000 OR $15,000 for a car.

I'm not trying to demean you or put you down, as you seem like a nice kid. But you have to understand that these things are privileges, and you are not entitled to any of them just because you work hard in school.

My parents bought my first car when I was in high school because, like you, I was doing VERY well (ended up attaining scholarships and grants that paid for roughly $160,000 of my college tuition). My dad purchased a brand new Nissan 350z for roughly $35,000 for. At the time, like you, I thought I had earned it by doing so well. But I didn't. I was lucky to have parents who were willing to spend that kind of money on my first car, but I in no way deserved it. I now drive a 2015 M4, which I pay for myself, and I can honestly feel like I truly earned it, as I'm able to pay for it without any assistance.
