Base price for a new corvette is over 160k here....
TCO is also extreme with gas prices, insurance etc.

I'm one of those people who would rather opt for an A3 over a Honda Accord, Q5 over a Highlander, or any gently used luxury vehicle over a new and comparably-priced "normal" car.

It's just the way I am. I figure if I'm spending X amount of money why not get the nicest car I can? I'm willing to compromise on space and/or features for a nicer ride.

Wifey drives a 10 year old Civic. She'll insist on keeping it until it rots out from under her. Occasionally I get stuck driving it.

My beater is the f30. I was too cheap to daily an F80. Then again, my average freeway speed is 15 mph on my commute.

I drive around in a pos Jeep I bought for $500

pros- don't care where I park, no car payment & just liability insurance, don't have to take the XM5 out in the snow, I get to experience what it's like to put 87 octane in a car!

cons- drives like shit & it's slow

Love my 2010 Civic Si. BMW could learn a thing about how EPS SHOULD feel from that car.

There is a thread made by a guy asking how to invest. My point for this post was to highlight that you sir are doing it right.

I haven't bothered to buy a car after my F82. As a pedestrian I can vouch for your method of investing since I bought winters for the F82 too.

I seriously get the fast cars and I've owned more than most women has of those, but the fun you can have in a beater is unknown to most Americans' since someone would be sued.

I still love a good tuned beaten up piece of trash on gravel more than anything. To a road I wouldnt take one but your car hardly classifies as one.

Off to bed I go, since it's a race weekend here

Best part about having a cheap car you dont care about is that you can park it anywhere and not care.

Even in my 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup, bone stock with manual windows and transmission, I still have enough pride of ownership to park a few rows away, backing in next to a planter if at all possible.

some asshat the other day @ my gym was parked like a typical asshat occupying 2 spots so i backed in right next to him, left enough room for my mirror to clear his. Im sure he learned his lesson :-)

Cheap is relative. I'm looking for a cheap beater so I don't have to commute my F80 everyday, but I don't want to be miserable in it. $25-30k is my budget.
