BMW xdrives are very good in the winter. So are Subarus, which has the WRX which is a lot of fun to drive, but not nearly as refined as a Lexus or BMW. A used VW R or would be a lot of fun as well.

I have a 2013 IS250 awd...gas mileage is putrid.

OP an SUV would be better for the winter. I wouldn't even consider the RDX a luxury vehicle given how bad the interior is. Lexus all the way.
