You can't smoke inside in a bar in Houston so I don't have to worry about rude people who don't care how their cigarettes stink up the place and everyone's clothing.

Dammit, I'm in the government and I'm not in on any of these conspiracies. Really wish I could get in with the "cool guys" running all the crazy hush hush conspiracies...

At a bare minimum you would have to move to a much less sane state like Oregon, California or the imperial city itself.......DC

There are a lot of agitators that they're going to need to fire........

You realize that the EPA was created by executive fiat (Nixon).......an executive order could make it go away just as easily

i really like the push for fuel economy in recent years, what i don't like about it is the disappearance of certain cars (like a n/a v8 m3). i would rather push manufacturers to make efficient cars by giving incentives or tax breaks. that way efficient cars will still be a large part of the market, but we can still have our fun cars.

Its a moot argument. The epa liberal stick is doomed. I have no problem protecting the environment. But if spilling 10 gallons of milk is considered a toxic waste spill requiring a hazmat team, or dighing a trench in your yard with a backhoe that fills with water overnight is considered a new protected body of water, and jacking up power prices 40% to lower enmmissions 0.1% on powerplants is what epa has become. Not the organization that it was founded for to stop heavy metals and real toxic waste from getting into the water etc. They stopped that years ago. Just ask Flint Michigan.

Follow up, 12 automakers have asked new EPA administrator Scott Pruitt to withdraw fuel economy rules:

I would be interested in seeing how they determined this -

Quote:
Automakers have argued that the rules could result in the loss of up to 1 million jobs because consumers could be less willing to buy the more fuel efficient vehicles since their engineering will result in higher price tags.
"Up to 1 million" = 0 to 1 million and seems really random, then we will stop buying as many cars if we have to buy efficient ones? Not seeing it, it may delay my purchase but not significantly and with the amount of leases, these people will continue to get another vehicle as the lease runs out. We should also add in when everyone buys efficient cars and spends less on fuel they are likely to spend this money on something else and I would like to see someone more independent than the one having to follow the law study the result of it.

Steaming pile of bullshit. Average car prices have far outstripped any incremental costs for EPA mandated efficiencies. Just lazy car manufacturers trying to take advantage of the current administration.
