the GT2 RS crushed the viper's time on a practice run. I really don't see the viper improving enough to beat the GT2.

Dodge needs to use better tires then. Not sure, but Porsche reserved the ring for two days. The record has been broken, they're just crossing the t's and dotting the umlats. If Dodge wants a shot, they should put some effort into it and not using mouthpieces on the internet to race stats.

Dodge has special tires made by Kumho which are extremely sticky race tires.

The ACR is maxed out as far as what it can do with a manual IMO.

If you go back, you'll see all along I said it would do a 6:46.

Porsche really just delivered one of the most absurd cars here. IMO this car, especially for the price is so impressive in its capabilities; more so than the 918, P1 and Laferrari.

I am guessing the new GT3 RS will be right around the 6:58-7:01 mark too.

That it does. Those lines were so clean! I'm glad to see Porsche reclaim their title, but the continued push for times only benefits the consumer in the end.

Upon comparison, the Porsche had a top speed down the final long straight of 313 km/h and compared to the Vipers 282 km/h. Also, the Porsche carried much more speed through the final set of turns after the straight leading to the finish.

I don't think its tires like some said, if the viper were pushing 700hp and the driver carried some more speed through the end, I think the gap would significantly decrease. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case.

Regardless, Bravo Porsche!

I don't think adding 50 hp to the Viper would yield much time. The Viper also has way more downforce than the 2RS. By what I know the 2RS has a max of 350 kg and the Viper 800 kg. The ACR also produces 545 kg at 150 mph, which means its palaays producing much more than the RS. The Viper would likely need to reduce downforce to hit speeds like the RS (given the same power) which in turn would affect its cornering speeds and grip so there is a trade off there that likely may not be of overall benefit. The only real way I see the Viper getting faster is a dual clutch which would also add weight.
Overall, the 2RS is just in another league.

New gt3rs will be 5-7s faster than .2 GT3 not 10-13s faster. For .1 RS was only 5s faster at ring than .1 GT3.

I wonder if, and by how much, the new Corvette ZR1 will go under 7 minutes. Highly doubt it’ll be close to a 6:47, but it’ll also probably be cheaper than a base GT3.

Yes, of course.
That's supposed to be 800 kg (not lbs) which is 1710 lbs. It was a typo on my behalf.

The 7:20 the .1 RS ran was not in ideal conditions as part of the track was wet and that's why there is no official time for the .1 3RS. In all likelyhood it would have been faster than the 7:20 time floating around.

The new 3RS will be appreciably faster.

I was spot on for the 2RS and will likely be so on the 3RS
