A lot of times, when I see a disaster like this I can at least appreciate the interest in automobiles and the desire to craft something individual and unique.

It's amazing what some of the rental car companies have been able to spec from manufacturers as OEM. As in no cruise control, no roll up windows like you mention, etc. I don't get much choice when I have to do it for work, but I put my foot down at some point for lack of basic features.
