The first thing I saw about this car is it reminds me of a Jetta from the rear.

Not for me but to me the bonnet looks way to long which spoils the overall proportions.

As someone who hated the massive amounts of fake black vents everywhere around the current gen, I'm happy Honda went with a more streamlined look this time around. However, they took a decent design philosophy and executed this one pretty poorly. In my opinion, the proportions are a little goofy and I want to say it's the headlights and taillights being way too big that make it look odd. Nothing that will impact sales to general consumers but definitely a turn off for me.
As obnoxious as the current Type R is, the current design language fits it pretty well. Would have greatly preferred the giant black fake vents to just be undisturbed normal body colored bumper like this new generation, but overall the design is fitting. Idk how Honda is going to make an aggressive edgy looking CTR out of this though, the lines are really soft just about everywhere.

My first ever car was a 1990 Honda Civic Si with a 108 hp (decent in those days) hatchback that I loved. The road feel was amazing, steering was direct (no power steering), reliable build quality, the manual transmission had long throws but was very accurate, high rev VTEC engine, and it looked great! Now I see the styling of the new Hondas - most Japanese cars for that matter - and it's just sad.
In general, I think the cars from Hyundai and Kia are much better looking than anything out of Japan (except maybe Mazda) and quality has improved immensely. If I were 20-something now, I'd seriously consider Korean cars over Japanese cars any day. Better QPR, better looking. |

Whew. Hated the current gen. Much better
Reminds me of a blend between Jetta and S3, probably for good reason. GJ Honda! Big points for getting back to reasonable design even if this one's not perfect.

Looks like they used a beluga whale as their inspiration for the front end. That swollen upper lip look just doesn't look right to me. Very Jetta from the back end. Not sure what's going on with Honda designers lately as they have one of the most homely lineups in the industry. I can't think of a single Honda that stands out or looks good amongst its peers.

I didn't realize Honda did this poor in some markets. Australians maybe a little ahead of the curve as buyers in North America still seem to think they make highly reliable cars when they haven't in a long time.

They went bland with the gen 21012-16 and went kinda ricey from the 2017 gen now they gone back to bland. It also sucks they’ve killed manual for the regular models.
