I got burned to the tune of $9,500 ($14.4K after interest) back in my early 20's, when I co-signed on a boat loan for a sibling. Three months later, he lost all interest in making the 10 years of $120.12 monthly payments, and I had to work two FT jobs for several years to pay for it.
On the bright side, I did get to take it out a few times while making those payments once I took possession of it...but had to sink a few grand more into making that brand new boat useable again after he destroyed it from negligence with only 15 hours of run time on the hour meter.....

As a young man I wisely invested in cars, pubbing & clubbing, lads holidays, women, drink & drugs, the rest of my money I just wasted.

Not sure...I never pay much attention to it tbh. I mean I lost like 1500 bucks in crypto just dipping my toe in to see if I wanted to invest more. Lost every bit of that. In my life, its hard to say. I know one thing that I have kicked myself for now that I think about it. I had Apple stock back when they were only making weird little computers. I eventually sold off that stock to pay some bills. Later on the stupid IPhone comes out and well...you know the rest. I'd have been a millionaire a LONG time ago had I kept em. (PS...I am not a millionaire now. LOL)

~$40k. Project car that never quite made it to where I wanted it, sold it for $10k.

My god - reading all these has made me happier than I have been for a long time. I feel bad about the $ I have wasted on "fun cars" even though I never took a serious beating (car grenaded, etc) but having never married and having no kids - I think I can look at those cars in a better light now!
Had several long term GF's (live in's) over the years (one for 13 years) yet never pulled the trigger. Would have been a divorce or 2 in there for sure if I had. Hell one I pissed off so bad she moved out and left her furniture behind. #winning Sorry for your misery, but thanks for cheering me up!

I’ve gotten spoken to about divorce experiences from probably a dozen guys ranging from 40-80 in the past 15 years and no way in hell I’m ever getting married. Some of the stuff I read here just confirms my thinking that the vast majority of marriage laws are skewed against us dudes.
Long story short, pro life long gf, anti marriage |

Yes, I recall. The only saving grace is my had a premonition we would flood so we grabbed pictures and other irreplaceable mementos as we left... that and a gym bag with a couple shirts and a couple pair of shorts. At least we drove our cars out so had those. The E38 was a sweet car!
