So wait, you took an M8 to be worked on in a townhome carport? And left it there after he said it was overfilling the coolant overflow bottle that caused a "super knock?"
Caveat emptor. I have a bridge for sale in NorCal, its pretty and red. $50k, super deal! |

I am really sorry to hear about the freak accident with a gas can that caught your car on fire and burned it to a total loss. I hope with the supply chain issues, you are able to find something to drive relatively easily.

This is amazing.
If my understanding thus far is correct my next question is: Who did the mods? Who installed the turbo, all the other stuff you did? A real shop or some guy in a town house? |

First mistake was buying an M8.

For a moment this story sounds fake because I can not believe that someone would take their M8 to some moron to work on it from his house. Is this story really true. I mean you can’t be that foolish. Can you?! Last edited by Wolf 335; 02-17-2022 at 03:04 PM.. |

Buy a basically new car, mod it and now its having issues? And given the fact that its apparently engineless in someone's carport makes me think "who modded this thing?" I dont know anything about the quality/reliability of the M8 but this car was obviously a write-off the moment you got a hold of it because youre like rich enough to buy an expensive car but cheap enough to take it to someones cousin to be modified? I my brain could handle this if it was a 19 year old talking about trying to turn an E30 into a drag car on his budget from delivering for Dominos but an M8 and supposed adult just causes my brain to lock-up. |

That invoice shows storage fees through July 19, 2021. It is now February 2022. Does that mean there is another $30K due for storage fees on top of the previous invoice?
How does someone charge storage fees when the engine is removed (if that’s the situation, hard to tell)?

When your "mechanic" generates your receipt from his giant Android phone with a cracked screen that he got free with his prepaid Cricket account 4 years ago.. you might want to start looking for another mechanic.

Wow. $8k engine rebuild, you bring your own parts, no warranty. Yikes.
There's just nothing about this that seems legit. |

Why in the ever lovin', Sweet Baby Jesus Hell, is an M8 being worked on in some guys carport? I don't care who recommended him, that should not only throw up a red flag, but every damn color in the rainbow.
Why is this car not at a legitimate shop? It's an M8, not an '86 Civic. Storage fees? While sitting in a carport...engineless...a carport...uh... Did you ever approve an invoice and give the go-ahead that stated a complete rebuild with the engine out? Is this real life? What the hell is going on here?
