Good to hear, I cannot wait to take delivery in hopefully 1 month. The funnest car I've had to date was an S2000 and I looked forward to every commute. I'm hoping for the same out of the 240. I've only sat in one, but no test drive.

The 230 /240i are some of the last BMWs in their lineup which have that BMW DNA in them.

The fact they make FWD cars now says a lot about how far BMW has fallen from where they used to be. If it weren't for the G42 I wouldn't even consider a BMW for my next car.

My Miata RF weighs about 2400 lbs. I think the soft top weighs about 2300. With the updated engine pushing 181 hp/151 lb ft, it's a blast to toss around on curvy roads. I love getting the back end to drift out on corners. Such a controlled slide and communicative steering feel. You know exactly what is going on beneath you. The M240 is blinding fast in comparison. But a tad numb and you can feel the weight at times especially when braking but it does hide it well most of the time. Lucky to be able to drive either one whenever I want to have a different experience. Maybe I should go check out this RWD 230. Now, if I could only find one to test drive….ahhh screw it. I'll go buy the new M2 instead…

Yes pretty much my thoughts too. I love my M240ix, but I really miss manual gear shifting. Now I am waiting again but for the new M2 with deposit down. Last hooray!

I found a 230 almost on the lot for sale and gave deposit to purchase. I had a 2020 M240 convertible and thoroughly enjoyed that car. I needed a truck for a recent move and sold the M240. So I enjoyed the driving/handling in the m240 so thought 230 would probably be ok. A few days later I called the dealer and said" I am afraid I won't enjoy the 230 as I did the M240" I want to canx the purchase of 230 and I guess I will order a M240.
That was 2 months ago still waiting for the allocation! I am beginning to believe I should have bought the 230 and if I really did miss the engine in the 240 could have up graded in a couple years.

Jumping from M240 to M2 seems like a larger jump to a different car.
Seems to lose the daily driver justification when owning a M2.
And my wife won't let me.

I can't justify the price difference for that jump, an extra $20k for marginal improvements in performance, none of which matter when I don't track at all - this is my daily. At the end of the day I'd be paying $20k for fewer numbers on my emblem.

re: 240 vs M2, i dont think it'll be a 20k jump, but i do feel the m2 and 240 serve different purposes. even for 10k more, i wouldnt want the M2, unless i could sell for more than i paid, flip it, and go buy an a 240 etc. etc

A fully loaded M2 has got to be close to $80k (factoring in possible markup), but even $70k is pushing it. I can't believe I spent $60k+TTL on an M240. I'm with you though, I have no desire for it, I think the 240 front end looks way better.

are there leaks for the front end of the M2? and i think people are forgetting just how good the performance is on the M240. I was content with my car til I was test driving zippy crossovers with my friend, and after some properly fast crossovers, i realized i missed speed (coming from a base macan). it reignited my love of the RS3, and after doing a day of research and discovering the new m240 for the first time, i jumped on it immediately and bought one later that week (all this a few weeks ago). ALL THAT TO SAY.... the m240 is an amazing value proposition, esp with the current lineup of manufacturers

Yeah, buyers remorse is the worst with such a large purchase. Back in 2010 I was shopping for a 335i and ended up settling for a 328xi because the former was a little out of my price range. I completely hated it and regretted the purchase and will never make that mistake again. Sold it within a year.

It was 'ok' I guess, but I don't know, I never looked forward to driving it. It just felt like a grocery getter with no excitement to it. I got into the 328 immediately after having an S2000, maybe that was the problem. I should have stuck with my original plan for the 335, or found something else that was fun.

Yeah, immediately after trading it in I regretted it and began looking for a new one but it was impossible to find a clean low mileage S2k at that point. I was borderline depressed over getting rid of that car. It was a blast to drive and I had no issues with it, aside from it getting high in mileage -- it was at 120k at the time. I daily drove it for 6 years/100k miles. I bought it in 2004 with 18k miles for $22k - I got very lucky as it was mint, it was silverstone metallic with red interior.

At the time I was dealing with snow storms back to back and was frustrated with not being able to commute to work and made a bad call - I thought I had to have AWD.

I wish Honda would release a new S2000 -- same chassis with a little more power, convertible hard-stop, and better brakes.

Was ur xi stick? Wow i had a chance to buy a s2k 4 years ago. White on red. Red top. It was pristine. Shifter felt so strong and nice.
