Not a fan of the M4. Too big of a car for a coupe.

It would be an M3 Base (manual). The price difference is about $12K, but I would get to spec a much better color and i'm guessing some of that is recoverable on resale down the road. Not a huge difference all in all.

The M3 is more practical and weight difference is minor. Still bouncing this around in my head.

Thanks for all that contributed.

Thought about it but a lease payment is like 300-400 more then a M2s finance payment. Not worth it!

That's what happens when the M3 is $10,000+ more, lol.

M4 being too big, guess you wouldn't entertain an M8... LOL I'm a bit opposite I prefer the two doors on my cars.

I decided to switch my deposit for an M2 to an M3 recently and my dealer in VT has two people who have already been waiting 18 months for an M3.

Its a good thing I enjoy my X3 because it looks like its going to be quite a wait no matter what, and in the meantime I can save for the bigger deposit I will need to make the M3 finances work hahaha

I don’t know what hate I’m going to get but…
I also know a good amount of y’all know that I too am awaiting number one on my dealers list who lm hasn’t received an allocation.
I’m tired of waiting and sold my F82 last month.

If I see no allocation, and I ordered a new RS3 a year ago as well with no update, well..

I’m going to pick up a 2019+ ZL1. I’ll buy another M car in the future but this is nuts.

Yeah. If people think getting a car from Mexico is bad…go check out the wait times in the G80 forums. Some cars are getting stuck in QC or WFT for MONTHS.

If you're in the #1 slot you'll probably get a production # in the next batch. at some point they'll need to give out some allocations to those dealers that only received an HEA car so far.

My issue is a bit different - i'm #3 in line and this is a smaller dealer that's gotten 1 HEA car and 1 configurable allocation already. No telling on how long it'll be before they get 3 more so i can get my order fulfilled.

Interestingly enough there don't appear to be any supply chain constraints delaying builds. I'm not sure how they aren't able to crank out more cars out of this supposedly state of the art facility. I would've thought there would be tons of production capacity to fill.

I’ve been saying that since the first round of allocations so I hope man! And that’s crazy that your small dealer has gotten 1 allocation! I hope you’re comes sooner than later

Is there a good comparison between the driving dynamics of the M3 manual vs M2 manual?

I originally started this process looking at manual Supra, then moved to a M2 manual and checked it out at a dealer which had one on display. They also had an M4 on display and I didn’t find the grill as offensive as I originally thought, I am coming from a f82 M4. After some thought I am leaning towards an M3 so I can still fit a child seat in the back for my daughter and that beautiful Isle of Man green. I figure given that the M3 weight difference from the M2 can the driving dynamics be really that different, at least with day to day driving. I test drove the OG M2 when I had my F82 M4 and I honestly was not that impressed.

My dealer has told me 6 months for M2 allocation and close to a year for an M3 allocation.

That idea only applies if you entirely ignore the fact that BMW sells cars all over the world, not just the US. Lol. They have thousands of other dealerships in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Nordic countries, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, etc, etc. that are equally deserving of M2 allocations.

We've had a ton of reviewers who have driven both. I think the consensus is "similar, except the M2 is more precise and tighter in the front, and more tailhappy in the rear, and the chassis is more rigid overall."

For some reason, the M2 *seems* to have better braking even though they share braking hardware. So my guess is that this is due to suspension and chassis advantages.

That's been one thing I haven't understood. Most reviews I see specifically call out the braking as better, and quote, "really really good." Not sure what they adjusted for G87, but thanks!

I’ve been looking at ZL1s. I will take my time as having 0 car payment has been fun, but watching everyone in their fun cars is killing me 😂. If I do get a ZL1, worst case scenario is my wife gets an X3M.

Hmmm, how's that???
I have fairly nicely built M3 (on the ship now), lease payment with $0 down is $1,280 (tax included).
Are you telling me that your finance payment is sub $1k/month with $0 down? Is it a 9-year loan?

Those numbers don’t add up. Did you configure your build with every option? What’s the residual and money factor?

The M2 does not lease well. Residuals are terrible.
And putting $7k down on the lease is absurd. You are better off putting $10k down on the purchase, then refinance a year or two down the road when the rates go down.
My 2021 M2C lease quote ($0 down) was close to $1200/month
My loan with $2k down was $1050/month

My G80 (61 residual on 6MT) is $1,280/month with $0 out of pocket!
