That would make them useless, if the car is rolling you want them inflated.

1. By the time you drop into the 10s, roll cages are required. Alternatively, if you can hit 135+ you are also required to have a cage 2. Anything below 10s has to have the frame and cage certified by the NHRA and there are more requirements around padding 3. Fire extinguishers, window nets, external ignition kill switches, and some other stuff also become mandatory under 10s / over 135 mph 4. Under 10s also requires a competitor's license, fire retardant clothing, full body coverage, etc. 5. There are best practices around securing batteries, swapping fuel tanks for fuel cells, etc in the general street classes 6. Specific requirements around harmonic balancers for engines once you drop into the 10s 7. Parachute is required at 150 mph+ At the end of the day this is another example of "safety regulations are written in blood". Going fast is only half of the racing equation. Doing it safely enough to stop is the other half. I had a '98 Camaro build complete with a roll cage and everything, but no parachute because I used it more for autocross than drag racing though I did run 11s with it a few times. My buddy had a < 8s 2001 Trans Am running a turbo LS1 + NOS setup. Glad this dude in the video is alright, but if you're going to go through the trouble of building that car and driving it 3 hours to race (good job taking it to the track and not on the street) I hope they learn their lesson from this and build in the safety aspects for the next car. Oh and FWIW, it's entirely possible to build a "super sleeper" and have the roll cage and everything integrated so well most people won't notice it unless they're sitting in your car. So no excuses around obvious looks or anything.

Nope, a lot of insurance companies have a disclaimer against off road or high performance track events. They even drop your policy if they find you autocross or do HPDE events.

It all has to do with how you present the claim, as wording is super important.

If you hit a large rock sitting in the middle of the road, it’s considered collision Of course, I would say that rock was rolling right at me when I hit it, thus being comprehensive… 😇

Sorry to be negative Nelly… but why the hell is he holding the wheel with one hand while doing high speed drag runs? The wheel has paddles for a reason. Some people blow my mind honestly.

Not in the UK. Car insurance is strictly for public road use. Insurance companies state any use on track is prohibited, they’ve even added Nordschleife as an exclusion because despite it being a public road, it’s considered a ‘race road’.

Do stupid things win stupid prizes. The kid is lucky BMW did their safety homework, otherwise he’s ☠️. Rollcage, fire extinguisher, and chute on an 8 second car.

I'm pretty sure I remember being told that you need to make your insurance company aware beforehand , and purchase additional coverage..... i think. |

As for what exactly the water/fluid was - I'm not sure. It was very clear, like water. |

This was clearly an inexperienced group of people using a car for purposes that it was not built for and this is The consequences when you use something that’s not designed for something.
Everything is a learning experience hopefully he will learn his lesson and hopefully he’s able to buy a new car and build a proper drag car. |

Edit: At least this occurred on the track and no on public roads,...where the outcome would not have been so good health wise! 1STOCKF30 STRONG!
