Ehh is it really upbadging when it is the same car with like a 4% HP increase? I am happy with my black badges but these do look nicer than the prior silver ones. Don’t really see this as claiming something you don’t actually have. Maybe that’s just me though…
EDIT: can you still use BimmerCode on 8.5? |

this is incorrect, it will get ID 8.5: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/canad...m2?language=en
its in the headline of the press release. this is what is leading to the speculation (again, speculation) that bimmercode may not work on the LCI cars. time will tell as always. |

Up-badging would be putting an M3 badge on my car, or a CS / CSL badge. It’s still an M2, I just like the style. Only somebody incredibly critical of having bone stock exact original for model year equipment would care, and I don’t think that’s anybody including you. Sorry if I offended you for some reason……

yes, there are hardware differences that will make ID 8.5 impossible on pre LCI cars. |

Of course they could. It's absolutely not "impossible" to have our cars run 8.5, just like it's not impossible to use a software update to bump up 20hp. These new features all motivate buyers and upgraders. I don't care about the horsepower, but the UI updates are annoying.

I have also wondered about this badge. On a BSM the silver is a lot, but the black badge would get lost. This seems like a nice compromise, maybe matching a polished lip on black rims.

Think of the days of '87 GNX and being a total blackout so going with the all black M2 badge would not be that bad if that is the look you are going for (of course, would need to custom paint the roundels). |
