While these say they can detect lasers, in reality if it does detect a laser then the cop already has your speed. The laser doesn’t bounce around like radar does.

I think somebody else mentioned it but LIDAR cops are usually stationary so it seems like if you use Waze + a good radar detector you at least have a better chance haha

For those that have one, if I decide to go with the blendmount for a direct connection to the rear view mirror, can you still take it out to attach to another vehicle with a wired connection?

The blendmount mount itself slides into the same setup that the R8 OEM bracket uses; the mirror tap wire terminates to the RJ-11 connector on the detector so it's easily removable. TLDR, two motions and your detector is free to pop into another car. That said, you'll obviously still have a bracket on your mirror + some wire hanging if you remove it, but is definitely modular in the sense you can easily install this setup in multiple cars and take your radar to whichever one you're gonna drive that day

i have had an r7 for a while, you get used to the false positives and its definitely nice to have when you need it

I use a Uniden R7 and Waze, been caught once because cops on the palisades sometimes use K band. I apologised to the officer as I was overtaking someone to exit and got a $90 fine and no points. I find it the most useful for long highway drives, I drove to Canada this year for the F1 and there were state troopers everywhere. I don’t really speed on more local roads as there is so much that can go wrong, animals in the road, hikers etc.

Got mine the other day and it turns on as soon as I connect the RJ11 power cord. Could be a defective unit or possibly a defective charger.

Mine had latest firmware from a month or two ago on it, so I think they have to test the hardware device before they pack it - so my bet is on a faulty charger

Received mine on Friday and it had no issues. It was updated with the latest firmware, as ajchoi has stated. Hope it is a simple fix.
