The dragon is very "slow" in a way and with the car's torque you don't need to redline it. It was a blast even with the break-in restrictions. Highly recommend.
Oh I've been on it in my Audi. It was crazy though. Low speed technical easy to be in a high rpm even though it's low speed.
I don't know that I'd keep it under 5500 lol.

I am also scheduled for PCD on January 10th (about two months longer than anticipated). The plan is to get my car ppf’d nearby and drive back up to NJ on January 16th. Unfortunately, due to the likely winter weather I won’t be able to enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway or Tail of the Dragon. The odds of temperatures staying consistently above mid-40’s are unlikely so I’m looking into shipping the Michelin Pilot Alpin’s down there that I recently purchased… (and shipping home the new summer tires…unless I can sell them nearby!)

It has always been a dream of mine since I was a kid to have an M car. Now that I’m in my mid-40’s and my wife is sympathetic (or just exhausted of me always talking about cars) to my automotive passion, my dream is finally coming to fruition. I’ve invited my father to fly down to SC with me and enjoy the road trip home together.

If anyone has any good recommendations for nice places to stay on the way back or even great restaurants/pubs, please let me know! Now that my route will likely keep me away from the fun mountain roads, I’m starting to research a plan B.

Happy motoring to you all!

-Steve
If you do end up in WNC, Sierra Nevada in Asheville (property is next to airport) is always an amazing experience. It's like the Willy Wonka of beer with awesome beer, service, and food.

With the daily temps in WNC it is always difficult to time it to have a day in the 50's and 60's.

Best of luck, enjoy the car!

P.S. I stopped off in Richmond, VA on my way back to NYC. Stayed at the Hilton at Short Pump, and it has an underground garage, indoor swimming pool, spa, fitness room, and a nice restaruarnt.

I picked up my car at the PC in September, and the first thing I did was get my car PPF'ed. Great decision. If you are looking for an excellent installer, that is also used by the PC, you should contact Extreme Auto Spa of Greenville. If interested, their contact information is as follows:
700 Woodruff Rd. #6
Greenville, SC 29607
+18642830633
advisor@extremecolorsgreenville.com

I am not affiliated with them at all, but was very happy with their work. Upon taking delivery of my car from the PC, I immediately dropped it off at night so they could work on my car the next day.

While they were working on my car, I attended the New Driver's Day ("NDD") at the PC, which if I correctly recall, is offered on Wednesday and Fridays. NDD is free, and can be arranged by call the Drivers School at 888-345-4269. Only hiccup is that you need to have ownership of your car before a spot can be held for you at the PC, but I was able to have them hold a spot for me even though I did not officially have ownership until taking delivery at the PC. Have a great time at the PC. I have done it 3 times, and ED once, and every time, it is a fantastic experience.

Aren't they like the same thing?
What's the difference?

Checked out the auto spa. Great idea to get ceramic and tint before the ride home

I know exactly what you mean about ToD being nausea inducing. Skyway is sweepers and foothills parkway is a small version of the BRP. You may have saved your paint though - probably salt roads up there. Sounds like a really nice trip and congrats on the new ride. If BMW had done a better job with the taillights, it would look pretty incredible next to that f87. You spec’d the car very nicely and imho this is the way to go for the G8x platform for this kind of driving unless someone needs the practicality of rear doors or prefers the look of the M3/4. When x drive rolls out it will be even more appealing to other folks who don’t want a manual and have a daily in colder climates. I also really like the color - nice of BMW to open up the palette.

If you mean between PCD and ED, PCD occurs at Spartanburg, and ED (no longer available to North American customers), occurs in Munich at the Welt. Big difference. With ED you could drive your new BMW around Europe, and there was free shipping back to the US. I drove my car on the autobahn, went to the Nürburgring, drove on the Ring, and then dropped off my car at the Munich airport.

No you said you did PCD and new driver delivery the next day. At least that's what I thought I read

That is also correct. Took delivery of my car at the PC, and by 4 pm that same day, I dropped it off to get PPF’ed. The next day I returned to the PC, and did the New Driver’s Program. After that was done, at the end of the day, I picked my up PPF’ed car.

I was asking if the PC delivery and New Driver program are the same. If not what's the difference besides picking your car up at one and the other is after delivery

So, the PCD was described in great detail at the beginning of this tread. The New Driver’s Program is somewhat similar, except, you are drivng on the track in various cars, and are switching cars. I recall driving a Z4, M5 Comp, i4, and another car I cannot recall. During PCD, you are drivng in the BMW fleet car that is identical to your new car. Also, some of the exercises are different, plus in PCD you are in the car by yourself, but for the New Driver’s Program, you share the car with another driver. Both were fun to do.

Gotcha thanks! I was just wondering if it was worth a trip back that way from Nashville to do both.

If you ordered the M Driver’s package for your car, you are also entitled to a M Driver’s Day at Spartanburg, or the Thermal Club in Palm Springs, CA. The M Driver’s Day involves exercises in an M car with another student, however, you can convert your M Driver’s Day to a One Day M School, where it is only you in the car. You have 3 years to attend a M Driver’s Day or One Day M School.

Quite a beautiful spec - class and aggression all in one package, well done. As a g80 6MT owner I always wonder how one would fare w the CB seats- the bolstering doesn’t allow you to man spread much which I was worried would become annoying when driving 3 pedals.

Beautiful car - best wheels bmw makes now too!

Congratulations! Great spec and MT for the win.🏆. I wish the M2C had been offered in Skyskaper Gray - I would have definitely ordered that. Come to think of it, if I did order a G87, my spec would be almost identificle to yours (probably a different interior color and I’d have to try out the carbon buckets to decide).

Now that ED is kaput (I hope it comers back!), PCD is definitely the ticket if you have the time to do it. My ED experience was definitely a highlight of my automotive journey.

Congratulations, that looks so damn good.

The silver/silver wheels G87 look reminds me so much of TiAg e46 m3 comp so much. Enjoy op!
