I have been seeing a lot of them on the road lately, and they look way better in person than in pictures. I wouldn`t call it a truck. It looks more like an SUV than a truck.

BMWs got to be “look at me” cars because of their reputation as superior driving machines and to a fairly large degree they maintain those driving characteristics today, in spite of the fact that more of them than not are butt ugly and have lost their classic design that was a significant element of what made them timeless and iconic. They certainly didn’t start out as “look at me” cars. More like “get out of my way” cars. The Cyber“Truck” is without question a “look at me” purchase and without question not a real truck. Overall I have a fairly good opinion of Musk, but this pointless monstrosity knocks it down quite a few notches. Bavaria, 1600/2002, E21 3er

Can't help but to draw a comparison to the Hummer vehicles of some years ago. When they came out, every flexing 30 or 40 something couldn't wait to get one. A few years later, they were counting the months to dump them, when their leases were up..

My purchase wasn't a flex, it perfectly met my use case. I think the CT will be highly appreciated once well past its use-by date, just like the GM Hummers are. |

Just now saw this. Too funny not to share!! I have to say as far as I can see this is the most logical explanation.

Did you watch both segments? She draws the “shape” of Musk’s body and turns it on its side and it’s the shape of the CT.

Geesh!! And the CT looks pretty much like a stainless steel Aztek.

Considering the popularity of Gwagon, not sure why all the hate for Cybertruck. Gwagon has terrible rear seat space, poor ride/handling, poor rear visibility and not a lot of cargo space. Its a useless vehicle, but a great fashion statement.
The target demographic are wealthy suburban buyers not plumbers or construction workers. I think it’s currently the #1 selling vehicle with over $100k msrp. |

It's one of 2450 or so H3T Alphas on the planet; a lot rarer than most member's ///M cars on the Forum (MrRoboto - ), especially now 15 years later. Update. Just for kicks... I found the thread: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...ght=H3T&page=5

However I feel like the hate of the H3 and even H2 back then was a little different. To me it seemed that people (at least the people around me) were mad at them because it was perceived to be a pussyfication of the original Hummer. Now I have no idea technically how much that's true or not, but just visually the H2 got big and fat looking and then the H3 looked like any other SUV. I think the hate is more in line with the hate for say the Mustang Mach E when it came out under the Mustang name. Vs the cybertruck or the aztec people just hate on because of how they look... and politics in the case of the cybertruck. I recall seeing a video on the aztec a while back and thought it had some cool features, which I can't remember now, but definitely made me appreciate it more. I still think it's hideous though. |

The whole Mustang/Mustang Mach E debate is stupid too. IMO. Last edited by Efthreeoh; 12-31-2024 at 12:12 PM.. |

At the time of their demise, Hummer arguably was a more valuable brand in the US than Buick, GMC, or Cadillac. But GM sacrificed it to the Obama administration to get taxpayer money to move towards their agenda vehicles. It's a shame because Hummer could have been a great outlet for efficient and reliable diesels, possibly paired with hybrid tech. But the identity politics starting then were just too strong, sadly. |

I can't think of any other automobile that has come out recently that has been talked about as much as the cyber truck. Co-workers of mine who are the furthest thing away from even caring about cars had full on conversations about it, come to think of it, almost everyone I know had an opinion about it. My point is, it got people talking, and that was probably tesla's goal. Whether people hate it, like it, or love it, they were talking. Now, around here, close to silicon valley, there are so many on the road that no one even seems to care anymore. Regardless, it was the most polarizing vehicle in recent memory when it came out, and it has served it's purpose to tesla.

Pretty sure Elon Musk has made sure that EVERYONE knows about Tesla. Tesla and Elon have been probably the most polarizing person and company of the year lol
