I wonder were else this 5cylinder will end up? It would be a great engine to have in something like the RS4 but probably few people would take it serious because of the lack of cylinders, regardless of what potential performance it could have.

It will surely find it's way into more than just the TT, maybe an RS version of the A3.

Hkz786, I saw in Worldcarfans that they said it may actually be running the S4 engine, I am sure this is too big to fit transversely. What have you heard?

P.S.
Why would the TT-RS not make it to the States, there has to be another explanation other than emissions, maybe the retain would be too high to be competitive in the US?
I'm not sure but listening to this soundtrack Footie it doesnt sound like the S4 engine!

Audi Wheels > Most BMW Wheels

I think BMW finally started realizing that they make boring stock (non-M) wheels and are fixing that with this generation.

+1 BimmerLoyalist

I'm liking this new TT-RS so far. I love the fact they kept the "RS" name and the body styling looks unique. I just hope the performance is as good!

God it sounds so lovely... Somewhat like my S5 V8 but it defiantly has forced induction.

I don't see how it can look less girly if there was a v8 in it. You wouldn't see anything visually different. The performance would chance tho.

The pics got me very interested. Sadly I'll never see it live until I goto Europe....

The TTS is still VERY nice and it's got enough bodykits in the aftermarket so no worries there.

The MTM R8 bodykit isn't very good in my opinion. Check out the one from B&B instead. They are much better and the rims on their version will make you go

I really dig those rims over the RS4 alloys. My only hope is Audi keep them exclusively for the RS and not try and make a quick buck.

Everything from the looks to the engine stats makes this an exciting new addition to the Audi line up. Any word on the rest of the kit like what awd system it is getting for sure and whether DSG will be present?

I am almost sure I read that the current transverse version can't cope with more than 350Nm.

Well, under Porsche's influence I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Best regards, south

You are probably right about the Halfex system being used, it is the latest addition and is quite technically advanced, offering front and rear electronic LSDs and an AWD setup that appears to react a lot quicker than it previous did.

I see the engine specs are finally all over the Internet so the time of spectulation is over and we can get a pretty good estimate of it's performance. Hopefully someone like swamp can place the specs into his simulator and provide us with reading ahead of official tests.

340ps and 450Nm is a lot more than the out going Z4M had to offer and it weighed another 100+kgs more. The Cayman S won't be even able to keep up in a straight line.

Pics dont blow me away, but those pics are crap lol. I know that wallpapers will look a lot better, and any improvement on the TT-S will look brilliant.

Right now I'm not interested in performance specs!

That engine sounds do dang smooth. I really like the new-gen TT and the S and RS models that come with it, but comeon with the pricing....!!

So let me get this straight. A new TT starts at roughly 36k. A TT-S starts at 46k. A TT-RS will be around 60k? I can get a used RS4 for that much. Audi is very over-priced. This is disappointing.

It will not show it's head in North America. You'll have to ship it as far as I can tell.

I imagine that in the UK it will be priced between the S4 and S5, probably closer to the S5 so my guess is to expect something along the lines of S5 pricing in the States.

But with the way the motoring industry is at the moment I wouldn't be surprised to see all cars reducing in price to promote sales. Porsche did it in the eighties.
