i remember playing this game on nintendo. all it is is better graphics and a few minor changes.

I received this game as a gift for PS3. I can't beat it on medium with my conventional characters (Ryu, Ken), but for some reason I can get through it with the cheese characters using cheese moves (using E. Honda and doing Sumo Torpedo repeatedly, using Blanka with jumping HK then crouching HK repeatedly, Zangief doing Spinning Lariat repeatedly).

IMHO, Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition and Super Street Fighter 2 were better. They say this one is more balanced (SF2 had a clear tier system, with groups of characters being obviously better than others), but I haven't played it long enough, or unlocked all the characters to really tell.

There seems to be LP+LK grab; can you block this? Abel seems to stand by my character after being knocked down, and as soon as I stand up, he grabs and throws me across the screen.

I bought this game for PS3 today.. after many good reviews. I couldn't stand it and posted it for sale on craigslist after 20 mins of playing. Got 5 emails in 45 mins for it, haha. Wish I had read this thread earlier. I like Mortal Kombat vs DC a lot more.

Bought Resident Evil 5 instead and took a small hit.

I'm not too happy with this game. If they wanted to go back to "roots" they should've kept it strictly 2D. The 3D isn't THAT good. Tekken 5 for example, looks much better. The 2D gameplay? Sorry, I'll take any of the Street Fighter Zeros over this one as far as gameplay is concerned.

Favorite Street Fighter Zero - Street Fighter Zero 3 (so many characters, good stages; just no original character music remixes)

I should've saved myself some money, not gotten Street Fighter IV, and just got Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. The other problem with this game is the ridiculous last boss. He has cheese moves.

After playing online with a few people, I can say I'm not enjoying this too much. What's up with holding Strong and Forward (medium punch/kick) and being unblockable + has an armor application.

You can't block the hit, if you try to hit them, they "absorb" it and crumple you. The absorbed damage regenerates, and they get to hit you with something else as you're crumpled.

I guess I've been out of games for too long, because this does not feel "back to roots."

I'm not trying to brag here (I can barely beat the game on easy), but, I just won 5 games in a row online. That said, I guess I'm not the only one having a hard time with this game. I can't explain it exactly, but roughly my feelings about it are:

-Jump angles are strange (so strange that I find it difficult to jump over projectiles)
-I hate the new Ultra/Super gauges (wish they would just do what they did in the Zero series, 3 distinct tiers of power up)
-I hate Armor/Armor Break Properties with the MP+MK crap; unblockable fully charged MP+MK; crumple
-Tier listing is accurate
-I hate the grab command (LP+LK), I know this was in SF Zero 3 (hated it then too), and I prefer the stand close with F or B + HP/HK (depending on character)

There's more to it than that, I just can't really put my finger on it. I'm not trying to say I'm a sore loser, or hate losing (competition is good), but Capcom said this game was supposed to be "getting back to roots." When I heard that, I thought great, an updated Street Fighter 2! Wrong! Completely new engine, completely new characteristics of play. If you've played any of the high ranked players online using Sagat, you understand why he is in his own tier (God Tier).

after being majorly dissapointed i tried out the training mode last night.
u guys have to learn how to use the EX focus attacks!!!!

Online play consists of every single cheap tactic you had ever heard of in person and then some. Opponents will jump in with a kick, you block, they throw you. You can't do anything about the throw after you've blocked the incoming kick.

There's more, but that's the one I hate the most.

I don't like the way people can just throw all the time in this game. You can be on the ground, getting up, they do their throw command, and you're thrown. Your LP+LK to technical out of a throw doesn't seem to work 100% of the time.

You can be on the ground, they're walking toward you, throw command. You SRK and they throw you even though you SRK.

You can be on the ground, they throw command, you try crouch. They throw you while crouching.

You can be on the ground, they throw command. You crouch + any attack (light, medium, hard), they throw you.

The same works the other way around. I played a ranked match (he had over 3800 BP, so he wasn't a noob) and after I knocked him to the ground, walked toward him and just did throw over and over. Not a special throw like SPD or anything, just a standard LP+LK. WTF were they thinking with this? He couldn't stop it. Sent me a private message cussing me out for that, but I sent him a message about how much I hate it and was just trying it. He agreed, but never thought about it before that game.

I'm done with this game beyond playing with friends.

Speaking of playing with friends; actually having the opportunity to have some fun is much better than playing this online trying to win.

Dan is my new main man. I beat a few of my friends a couple of times with him. I like his forward and backward dash because it looks like he's running, it's relatively fast, and it goes pretty far. It's funny:
a) running away from fireballs (especially those that disappear like Sakura's or Chun Li's)
b) running away from an opponent consistently trying to jump kick you, they whiff, you run, they try again, you run just out of range and they wiff again; the longer this goes on, the funnier it looks

Depending on your opponent's skill, you can bait them into an anti-air move (SRK) or something depending on how threatening you make your run in look, then counter with a standing Fierce Punch + Goryuken.

His Ultra is great because it acts as an anti-air. His Super is decent if you can land it on a standing/crouching opponent, but wasted on anti-air.

His Taunt #4 is funny too.

That's what I was thinking. The single player isn't all that, but get a couple friends and it's fun as hell.

i think its fantastic, may be different from the previous titles but i think its fun as hell to play, and a great look and mix of old and new, being good at it doesnt hurt how fun it is lol

plus i think focus attacks are an awesome new dimension into strategy, really cool
