Out of those, I like the 1st one the best. The last one looks like a church.

It's because these haven't been built yet and are in a nice community whereas the other homes in the area are old farm houses with cows and stuff. The area isn't really built up much. I didn't see what you meant about the water looking bad but the water there in general is kind of red and muddy in its natural form because of the clay deposits. The house prices are going to skyrocket along with the addition of more housing in that area because the highway I-540 is being built right near there and is going to be completed within a year along with the RTP Parkway which leads to all of the jobs over in the research triangle. Wilmington is an old dead area with no jobs. I originally was looking in Cary because it is a very pretty town with lots of huge roads and is already built up but you can get more for your money in Morrisville. Raleigh is nice but has a little more traffic than I'd like, and the areas further south like Apex and Holly Springs aren't very attractive because they're putting in a smelly new dump there.

I was looking at the lake or river nearby. I thought that was where it was going to be built until I found the map on the Kitty website and compared it to the Zillow website. I didn't realize that NC was so expensive. Have you looked into Columbia/ Charleston South Carolina? The home prices are better for what you get and you can buy new for alot less and much larger! Were you trying to go to school in that area?

North Carolina is where the jobs are. Besides Atlanta and further north into D.C. there aren't really any other huge business districts in the whole south. My dad lives in Cary, NC so I'd like to live near him. I am thinking about grad school at UNC or Duke.

hmm, i think i'm going to give in and step up to the plan 2 lol. too tempting. it's 2150 sq ft and $15k more but it works so much better and the craftsman in plan 2 is lovely.

Better to be safe than sorry! $15k is not that much more in house payment anyway.

After living in SoCal and AZ for the last 20 years anything under $300K seems VERY, VERY inexpensive...buying a whole block there wouldn't be out the question...and that way you can visit all your renters to collect the rent in person...

great idea.

and a better thing to do if you have a lot is have an architect lay out some plans according to the city's code and sell it to a developer like KB afterwards.

that'd save you a lot of headaches and you'd be able to sell the lot for more.

IMO, the Craftsman's too bulky looking.

I like the Federal.

I think that looks too funky. the columns are too busy. I think you should consider a simpler design, like the cratfsman before, or maybe a different plan 2 design.
