hmmm, so you consider ear piercing a workout? Read your original post dude, you said plastic surgery is like working out at the gym, to which is very different. If you get a nose job or breast implant purely for looks, you might actually endanger your health and it will not have any health benefit, but compare to working out, which most people are doing not only for looks but also for health benefit and that's why your comparison is not a valid one.

Ok...Yes some people do workout for the health benefits. Others work out to "look good."

I am going with the theme of body enhancement....a person changing their natural body for the sake of vanity.

Ok...if you are not in favor or having a nose job done for the sake of vanity would you be comfortable with a burn victim having a skin graft in order to minimize the scarring on their face?

Of course I would, because that particular individual is a VICTIM of circumstance and is in dire need of such a procedure. Where as the person having a nose job doesn't necessary need to have it and he/ she surely is not a victim of anything.

And this is where I was going in regards to ear piercing. People don't NEED to have their ears pierced. It is unneccesary and vain.

But what does having your ears pierced have to do with working out? You stated earlier that a nose job (surgery) was exactly the same as working out. Then two post later you changed it to ear piercing. You lost me there and I'm still a bit confused as too where you're going with this. I suggest you read through the thread again.

And I'm not against plastic surgery if that's what one chooses to do. However it's certainly not something I'd do, unless I was a victim of circumstance.

I apologize. Perhaps the example of "working out" was a bit vague. I was not referring to exercise....I was referring to bodybuilding.

Ok...Simply put, all of the following activities are the same:

Ear piercing
Tanning
Tattoos
Rhinoplasty
Laser hair removal
Bodybuilding
Collagen Injections
LASIK/PRK
Gastric banding (stomach stapling)
Hair transplants
Teeth whitening
Breast implants

All of these are done out of vanity. Are there some secondary benefits to some of these? Yep! But the primary purpose is for expression/acceptance.

I agree with KennyV - if you're 'juicing' up on creatine, protein whey, steroids, and all that other crap then you might as well just go some plastic done instead.

If you're working out au naturale, then you're just trying to be healthy and lookin' good is nothing but a side effect. But unfortunately, most of the guys I see at the gym juice up on excessive protein, shakes, creatine, and all that other GNC crap.

How can you say it's exactly the same? Leveling off the bridge of a nose with a freaking file isn't the same as lifting a few weights. Also, if someone wants to look how they looked before, they can't just say, hey, I think I'll reattach the bone that I got grinded off.

Back on topic, that very first picture looks weird. Is that a photo shop? It looks like they took Jessica's lips and put them on Ashlee. If that's really Ashlee, she should've left her lips alone and just got a nose job.

That pic does look a bit touched up doesn't it. Not sure if it's photo shopped or not.

Yeah...I wasn't clear enough. Sorry. When I think of working out I think of gaining muscle and transforming your body, I forgot that most people think of big blue exercise balls and pilates.
