Mercedes-Benz announced on Sunday that its 2012 C63 AMG coupe would arrive in dealer showrooms in September, on the same timeline as the revised C63 AMG sedan. The coupe will be shown at the New York auto show next month.

Not surprisingly, the same AMG Development Package available for the sedan appears in the coupe as well, which borrows parts from the more upmarket SLS AMG. The package increases the 6.2-liter V-8’s output from 451 to 481 horsepower and can reportedly propel the coupe to 60 m.p.h. in 4.3 seconds. Tools to manage all those ponies include an AMG sport suspension and high-performance brakes.

Also carried over from the sedan is the 7-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. Its controlled-efficiency mode reportedly helps reduce fuel consumption, while a number of performance modes help with speedy shifts.

Visually, the AMG coupe distinguishes itself from the standard model with a number of dress-up items. The brand’s three-pointed star sits prominently on a single crossbar, whereas the base coupe’s insignia nests between two bars. There are 18-inch painted gray wheels, which replace the standard bright metal units, while a vestigial spoiler and black front and rear aprons subtly — very subtly — suggest the automobile’s sporting potential.

The wheels do not cut it for myself. Small problem to deal with for a slick car.

^^ Those are the launch wheels but I'm sure you can still opt for the traditional AMG 5 spoke wheel.

IMO Audi A5 and BMW 3 Series Coupé look better than the Mercedes C Class Coupé.

PS: All considering a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé should know it has no framless windows. That is lame for a coupé. For me it is a total deal braker.

http://mercedes-benz.tv/en/clip-1498...ng+Pleasure%21

http://mercedes-benz.tv/en/clip-1496...AMG+Coup%C3%A9

prices:

coupe: € 72,590
sedan: € 71,340

Vs M3 prices w/ DCT:

coupe: € 72,650
sedan: € 70,700

U.S. prices will probably be the same as the current price.

I think with blacked out window trim and without bumper LEDs this would look really good. I'm surprised how well thing turned out because I thought losing two doors would look like a lazy idea but it worked out great.

The car on the configurator looks to have blacked out trim?

I love everything about it, except the front does not look agressive enough to me for a AMG.
