155, 170 and 185 champs are gonna stay that way for a while
i dont see anyone in the 155 division that can beat BJ, GSP has no real threats at 170. and who the hell is gonna beat anderson at 185, shit who in 205 can beat him? |

+1. I also don't see anyone beating the Dragon...even though Shogun tried.

It was a very close fight...but Machida was definitely not "beat" by Shogun. I thought it would be a split decision, but obviously the judges voted unanimously for Machida to keep his title. Try watching it without Rogan's commentary for an unbiased view!

I don't listen to Rogan at all. Shogun had more strikes plus cage control. I didn't see Machida do too much but try to figure out WTF is going on.

Fair enough...I'll agree to disagree about whether or not Machida was "beat" by Shogun!

It was okay. I actually got the PPV figuring the Wand/Bisping and Nog/Cain fights would be good. The former wasn't bad. Wand looked more technical and used more 'timed aggression'. He also went back a bit to his muay Thai roots, but still didn't utilize his clinch game....threw some nice roundhouses, though. That match was worth watching.
Poor Nog, though. Within the first few exchanges, I could see that his hands were slower than Cains....but he kept standing and the match was over shortly after. The other cards weren't bad. Overall, an okay event, but nothing spectacular. Better than a number of the other shows they've put on, though.

New Light Heavyweight Champion!
Congrats to the new light heavyweight champion...Mauricio "Shogun" Rua! He really did a surprise KO on Machida in the first round and broke his undefeated record tonight.
Kudos to Dana White for throwing out the trash...Paul Daley is officially out of the UFC for taking this POST-fight shot at Josh Koscheck: Love Josh Koscheck...but I hope he doesn't win his next fight 'cause I love GSP even more! |

Yeah congrats to rua, Machida did something amateurish in my opinion, but in the heat of the moment it is easy to mess up. He should have completed a jab cross then moved out or away instead of a half jab to the arm followed by moving to the inside with a big straight. Shogun countered really well.

In their last fight (UFC74), GSP took Kos down at will. Knowing that, and how much better GSP is now, it'll be another domination for sure.

I know domination will ensue, but I want GSP to DESTROY kos...beat the living hell out of him...make him regret thinking he had a chance...shatter his jaw so he can't talk for a good while.

What's mind blowing is that Kos is an NCAA Div1 champ, while GSP never wrestled a day in his life before MMA, and GSP took him down with relative ease.
GSP won't risk standing and giving Kos a punchers chance. He'll do exactly what he did to Hardy and fight a smart fight.

Kind of a vagabond now, but I trained for several years. Pancrase, too.

On a side note, I'm glad Shogun finished Machida and is now the champ. Let's see how long he can hold onto it. He's the 6th or 7th holder of that title in the last few years.

Second, I will admit that GSP won the wrestling part of the first fight, but only because he went in with a great game plan... one that Koscheck never expected. In preparing for the fight, Josh really didn't train much wrestling because he wanted to focus on his boxing so he would be ready to stand with GSP. During the fight he had more of a boxers stance than his normal somewhat hybrid boxer/wrestler stance. Believe me the next fight will be different... I'm not saying that Koscheck will even win but it will definitely shut people up that say GSP is a better wrestler than Koscheck. |
