I would feel comfortable saying the same thing at my store based on 6-8 M3s per year that we get. 2 a year seems like a good number for my store. If I'm right then I was right. If we get more then that's also good news. But your point stands. No CA can know how many they will get. |

It would be interesting to see how many people are in the order bank. I bet the average is 5 per dealership. Let's say that's the case. That would be 1,835 order. I would guess at least 10% are duplicates with people having deposits at multiple dealerships. It might be more, but that would drop us to 1,651. I would also guess that 25% will back out when the allocation comes available. That brings us to 1,235. With 42 allocations coming out today that means we have almost 1,200 disappointed people who are still waiting for an allocation. Come on SLP, start pumping these babies out!

It has nothing to do with SLP pumping cars out. They dont have the orders yet. We need BMW to get the allocations to the dealerships so they can assign to begin initiating the customer's orders. |

I spoke with the GM of BMW Denver Downtown today. Nice guy. As of now, there are 25 people on the waitlist. He said they received about 15 M3's last year but expect fewer M2's this year and estimates it'll be about two years of waiting for anyone who joins the list today.
He also said the HEA allocation is coming and is still unsold. Just sharing info as we all try to get our heads around the allocation picture, and to let people know that there might be a car available for someone willing to act fast and accept whatever comes in. 25 people passing doesn't help to fan the flames of FOMO.

Yes, 6MT is a must for me. I wish I could remove heated steering but it is std in Canada (this car will a Summer toy and I never had heated steering).

Why remove heated steering? It's pretty cheap, weighs nothing, and has no real detrimental effect to the car?

1) I don't want to drive a beater car. I want to drive the best/most fun car I can drive everyday. 2) BMW does not offer a manual car with xDrive. 3) Most winter days in Denver Metro are still sunny and dry, temperatures above freezing. 4) I don't need to commute to work every day so the G87 can remain in the garage if there is more than couple of inches of snow on the ground. Plus we have a G05 in the garage should an emergency arise. 5) I daily drove an ND Miata for two years back when I had a long daily commute and not only it was doable but it was also simply great fun.

Yeah, I was in Denver for work in January and it was surprisingly warm some of the days. The delta between being chilly enough that a heated steering wheel is nice and too cold/icy to drive a M2 is pretty big.

No need for it. I am not worried about resale and one more thing that can break.

Well, not really if you think about it. Golf R manual is probably closest thing but still is a fwd biased car with a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine. GR Corolla is fun but doesn't have BMW's refinement. Same problem with the WRX. And that is it really, no other AWD fun cars with a manual transmission on sale today. So rwd with a limited slip diff is pretty much the next best thing and name a better car for the price than the G87, at least on paper. 4BW is probably the next best option but comes with GM build quality, interior, and depreciation.

For those days when the roads are really messy, I'll drive our old 4Runner. You're right that having a winter beater is a nice luxury, but it's not like the M2 has to be garaged for five months a year, and with good snow tires, it'd be a fine if not ideal daily. |

Same thing in Alberta Canada. Yes it’s winter for 6 months but I drove my m235 rwd 6sp on most days. It was probably parked 20-30 days total due to weather. I always found it funny my BMW had the heated steering wheel but our truck and suv did not. I traded the m235 for a Golf R for AWD and 6sp and it wasn’t worth it. It was quick sure, but not sporty. Not much fun. The WRX is horrendous inside. |

My biggest apprehension about the R was the interior but I never thought it would be lacking in the fun department. Are you able to talk more about the difference in driving dynamics between your R and old M235? |
