Unfortunately, that attitude of not engaging shoplifters is even more prevalent in the satellite cities around Toronto that have higher ethnic populations, as the government doesn't wish to be perceived as 'racist' in prosecuting crime (wtf)

I still vividly recall a conversation I had with a gent working a government job back in 2010 where he bragged about this happening in said satellite adjoining towns, and how certain (cheaper) brands of scotch were kept locked up because of how quickly they were pilfered...
Left me shaking my head then, still does. It was a point of pride for him to explain it (wtf #2)

I got on the job in 1985 and there were concerns about the price of gas, our department decided to try out K-cars, they got two of them, decalled them out, roof lights and a cage. You could not put anyone in the rear seat with the cage, they were absolute garbage. We would normally get about 140-160km out of a car, 80-100K miles, these things were toast before they got to 50Km. I'm told they would actually run on piss. I wish I had a picture of them.

Before my time we used Pinto's and VW Bugs. I can't find a pic of the 70's bugs we had, terrible. And then there was the Diplomats, I remember responding to a hot shot one afternoon, lights and sirens going down Jane Street and the POS wouldn't get over 60KMH, I was actually passed by some guy while I was going up a hill and losing speed.

I lived in "Scarbarria" in the early 80s. I remember sitting on the balcony of my apartment at the corner of Markham Rd and Ellesmere one evening with some friends and watching someone on a motorbike leading three cops around in circles for about 20 minutes. I guess he/she finally got bored and jumped on the 401 east and was gone in seconds. The best part was the cops didn't see where he/she went and kept circling the neighbourhood for another ten minutes with their lights and sirens on. Those cars couldn't catch each other let alone a bike.

Scompton.... Now you can't even chase a motorcycle...I could tell you some stories why but that would require more rum.

There's a homeless guy that has been making a mockery of the Poughkeepsie PD for the past week. He has been arrested FIVE times for stealing cars, and turned loose after each arrest thanks to catch-and-release. The dude doesn't even run away from the stolen cars any more, because he has no fear of being arrested.....

I read something this morning about a guy in Utica NY that got arrested 3 times in one day. The last arrest was for stealing a fire engine. WTF?

I've been involved in a number of them, none end well but the one that sticks out in my mind was the guy that engaged us in a pursuit and we were told to back of so he waited for us, and when we caught up he took his helmet off and tossed it, then wound it right out into a bridge abutment. Something to see. There was one that ended with the rider losing his head as well. There is just about no circumstance where you are allowed to chase a motorcycle anymore.

Vote for me for Prime Minister. I'll make it legal, heck, I'll encourage it. Far as I can see we are doing the world good by getting rid of that sort. If they want to off themselves in trying to evade facing consequences, well, play stupid games...
