I personally am doing full front end + full cf roof + full tints/windshield + ceramic coating. Just over $4k is tough to stomach but the peace of mind and easy cleanup is worth it to me. I will keep it 3-4 years also. |

The standard lease return requirement in Canada is stone chips through the paint within a 2” circle and 3 circles per panel are acceptable wear and tear. That means 4 stone chips on a given panel could mean a requirement for panel reconditioning, a repaint of a single panel would cost more than PPF for that panel when new. Here in Alberta a single winter would have dozens of stone chips on the front bumper and quite a few on the leading edge of the bonnet/bumper.

Original, good condition paint is much more valuable IMO. But again, it doesn't really matter with a lease. I very highly doubt you'd get so many chips they'll make you repaint panels, unless you're doing mountain runs behind another M2 every weekend If you're getting dozens of rock chips in a single winter, I think the bigger issue is with how you drive behind others. Also, I got the whole of the front bumper, full hood and fenders done for CAD$1400 with Suntek PPF, a bumper repaint alone at a decent body shop would be CAD$1000. Last edited by aerobod; 07-29-2023 at 03:05 PM.. |

$1000 USD for full front PPF seems suspiciously low. I don't even think that covers the material cost. Standard is $2200-2800 on the east and west coast. Would love to see the quality of that in person. |

Which means less installers, less demand, and less competition... A roll of Stek PPF is like $1000, so again either that was a buddy price with almost no labor factored in, a shitty shop, or u just cappin Anyway... not here to start drama. If you're happy with it, all that matters. |

Suntek PPF should be about CAD$100 per square metre (~USD$75) wholesale for standard about 30% more for matte. Needs about 5 sq metres including wastage for a G87 full front and a skilled installer can install it in about 3-4 hours. You need to find suppliers with lower markup. |

Here is my PPF cutout, with full roof. 156 sq ft = ~15 square meters, $1125 material cost using your numbers. Without the roof maybe $950. No one is full prepping a car and installing full front-end PPF in 3 hours, for $100. |

The hood, 2 fenders and bumper can be done in 5 sq m if they are efficiently orientated (the roof, rocker panels and other non bumper fender and hood patterns are taking up about 50% of your plan with quite a bit of spare area), 6 if less efficient. The professionals I use are definitely efficient. Their team normally has about 10 vehicles being worked on on any given day. Besides a wash and clay bar (assuming no paint correction needed), there shouldn’t be a lot of time spent on a brand new car in prep.

The cut plan is auto-optimized within the software and will do a lot better job than you moving things around in your head. There is always a lot of wasted space with PPF or vinyl. Anyway, if you found a shop to do basically free labor, more power to ya. But stop with these insane underestimations lol. Gonna stop here.. |

On my car besides the full front, fenders and hood I added A-pillars, rocker panels, roof, headlights and bottom of rear bumper behind the rear wheels for a total of CAD$2,050 / USD$1500 without sales tax, with the car dropped off at lunchtime one day and picked up the next morning. From what I know, the material cost is about 50% of the price, about CAD$1,000 for my install. It sounds as though you over pay for both material and PPF install in your market compared with what we pay here. |

The bikini is a waste of money and time...and if the car is anything but white, the line on the hood will stick out like a sore thumb. |

It does keep the stone chips away in the main areas (you can see it is effective against winter road treatment gravel and sand here, from the cars that don’t have it and have a sand-blasted bumper after a few years) but I prefer the full front to avoid the line on the hood.
