No, her obsession with him was centered around the fact that the girl (Tammy Thompson) she wanted was goo-goo over Steve. She was obsessed with Steve because she wanted to be Steve (in a manner of speaking), not because she wanted to be with Steve.
Yes. I'm referring prior to that.

Gotcha. It was some intentionally misleading script writing, for sure.

As to why introduce an LGBT character - I'm torn. Certainly LGBT folks existed in the same numbers then as they do now. However, even in the mid-80s, I don't think the "coming out" by Robin, and even more so the receiving of that news by Steve, would have been nearly so nonchalant.

The story is so true to the era, Coke, music, cigarettes etc. But regardless another great season.

*OFFICIALLY* Netflix Biggest Opening/Viewing in their History!!!

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/09/stra...ix-record.html

‘Stranger Things 3’ breaks Netflix record for most-viewed series in first four days!

Netflix says 40.7 million households have watched the third season of “Stranger Things” since it hit the streaming platform on July 4.

That’s higher than any other film or series has been viewed on the streaming platform in the first four days since release, Netflix says.

One analyst says the record viewership implies the show’s new season has reached 26% of Netflix’s global paid subscriber base.

It amazes me how True to Life everything is from the iconic 80s!!!

After all.... I was There and clearly remember the dress, cars, music, food, etc.

When they are inside of grocery stores, how are they able to amass sooooooooo many 80's products??? And at the Mall.... I loved me some Orange Julius!!!

I thought they missed an excellent opportunity with the M&Ms. Remember there used to be two shades of brown?

I wondered about that for the mall. Wasn’t sure if they fabricated the storefronts or if they went CGI.

The mall is a shitty ghetto zombie mall about 5mi from me. Hell, the BMW dealership is right around the corner.

Apparently they built the stores, here's an article:

Wow - very interesting! Thanks for posting the link. Even the embedded YouTube video for Star Court Mall is a trip in time back to the 80s....

I actually grew up 5 minutes from the Puente Hills mall, where they filmed the Back to the Future mall scenes. And it was funny cuz they showed that part of the movie in one of the episodes!

I did catch maybe one mistake though. I didn’t think sectional garage doors existed back in the 80’s. Saw one in an episode

I thought I caught one too with the theater playing Back to the Future. The writers did well though, as the release date was July 3rd 1985.

They were still coming down from the truth serum, which is why I think they were both so nonchalant about it.

Yeah, I considered that angle. Not sure I buy it, but if that was the biggest plot hole, we'd have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Finished it the other day, awesome, first season is still my favorite, however I would say this one and season 2 are tied. This one was a tad too in your face with the CGI (did anyone notice the HORRIBLE CGI fireworks over the fair?) but still had like a cheesy 80s action movie vibe to it. I thought seasons 1 and even 2 were a little more subtle and eerie. This one was more action packed and fun I thought.

So we FINALLY finished watching the end of the last episode last night. Spoiler Alert!

Do we want to discuss where we think Hopper is at this point? Did he get taken back to Russia, with the Russians that disappeared, as the Americans rushed the mall or did he get sucked into the void/upside down?

We lost interest and turned the last episode off once Dustin and his girlfriend started singing. A few days later my son told me Hopper died and felt like I had to finish watching it. Apparently the boy didn't watch past the ending credits and didn't see the Russians and the comment of "No. Not the American." Anyone else feel like this is Hopper they have locked up?
