Almost 50% of the food we eat relies on pollination by bees. So all fruit, most vegetables, nuts, vegetable oils... Half the treespecies dies... Wasps are also useful. They hunt/eat massive amounts of mosquitos and other insects. So if the hive doesn't bother you (or other people in your surroundings) too much, I'd leave it be. At the end of fall all the wasps die and wasps don't repopulate old hives.

Main due to concerns about it increasing in size, it's coming out...working on a game plan now. I had a small ground hornet nest in the back yard, normally would gas it, but tried the brake cleaner method. Kinda shocked how well it worked.
Thinking of going to the stoop on that upper window and hitting it after dark with the brake cleaner. I have full arm length gloves to clean my reef tank that are super thick. I think I can bock off the window with a little hole for my arm...hit them when they least expect it. Guess I need to check if my GoPro has night vision

My rule is, if I don't get stung you live... If not you all die.
We got a bee colony under the front steps and they have been there for 10 years with any problems. Ground Hornets are another story. Got stung multiple time in the back when I went over their entry while cutting grass. Well after the wife patch me up, they all died. |

Saw another where the guy sprayed the dust...and immediately pulled the hive down with the angry hornets swarming. No clue as to why he sprayed if he was just ripping it down right away.

I don't know if I'd use that little 'ol hand-held puffer thingy - feed that bottle of killer dust into the intake of your leaf blower and smoke 'em out.
