I don't think this will come to fruition with the EU mandate of 50% emissions reduction in 2030 and 100% emissions reduction in 2035, that was passed overnight while you were sleeping
There is no reason to develop hybrids that they can't sell in the EU. Unless they quickly plonk the XM drive train into the G99 and sell it tomorrow In which case I will put an order in that I can't afford! Last edited by G30M; 06-29-2022 at 04:50 PM.. |

I remember back in November stating this was coming and everyone "in the know" said I was wrong. Get ready US!

A month ago I promised to get you some clarity on the possibility of G99's US sales. Fulfilling that promise now: G99 is planned for the North American market while the regular G61 is not.

The next gen M5 will come to the US in a Touring version? But the regular 5 series won't have a Touring?

The 5 series touring will be built for RoW, but only the Touring coming to the US is the M5 Touring? Just want to make sure I'm not getting my hopes up. Lol

Is the G99 going to be available in USA at the same time as it will be available in Europe or it might come later?

So now either BMW lied to us and could have always brought the G81 (M3 touring) stateside, or they realized there is demand and designed/built the base G61 in such a way that (even though they don't bring it to the US) they can homologate the M5 touring (G99) without major issues in the US. |

Great news. Now we just have to pray that the next gen doesn't get beaver grill or the ugly headlights.

I'd be very surprised if BMWNA put a premium on it (apart from the usual 1-3k touring add-ons compared to the sedan), but ADMs are of course a possibility if BMW decides to limit availability.

It'd be hilarious if BMW put a premium on the Touring.
"We can't give the US the Touring, it won't sell!" "Okay let's give the US the Touring... with a premium, because it'll... sell?"
