Are you sure? Because here the rear view camera is optional so if people don't have it added I can't see why they would put a hold unless it is related to something else. Hopefully will find out more soon.

Severecorpse is collecting next week so will be our guinea pig to see what happens haha

I'm not going to ask about the stop sale as I don't want to rock the boat. Let's see what happens haha!

I don`t think its as simple as that. Many of these cars share a lot of the same parts. Just because you don`t have a camera doesn't mean you don`t share the effected electrical part.

From what I read the actual camera isn`t the problem.

I’m not an IT guy but I’m surprised that a software fix takes about

two months to fix

I think the given completion time of November is just a maximum estimate and we will see (hopefully) this fixed in the coming weeks in October.
This is like more of their MAX time of resolve and of all of cars affected by this to be fixed and back on the roads by this given date.
And I also believe the date of November means more like 1st of November and not until 30th November
So I predict this to be resolved and cars to be updated next week or the week of 9th October. We shall see...

My car got released from the VPC after the stop sale went into affect. It is released to the carrier and waiting to be picked up. Maybe the next round of cars will get stuck in VPC though.

Not really an expert in this stuff either but it sounds like they might of only just found this issue and still need to develop a fix in the software for it. Then they need to test the changes and make sure it fixes the issue and also not cause any other issues.
So in theory it could take long still and just depends where they are at with the fix.
Deploying it will just be a dealer car update which would be a few hours or so I imagine

That is exactly it. People think its just a quick software fix, but it needs to be tested as well.

Love the confidence and enthusiasm. Have you experienced this type of action before? I've heard it is not that uncommon for stop sales to occur.

My car says same thing, same number. I am not happy. I was on the way to pick up my car on the 23rd when my CA called me. I already sold my car. Might have to forget about this car and try another brand. I can't wait until November or December.

yes I know, this is more of a "give myself hope and keep myself in a positive attitude" thing since most of us were waiting a very long time since the initial ordering day and exactly when we were so close to finally pick up at the car to have these extra weeks added to the long wait it becomes frustrating and sad

Also, yes I somewhat know how a software fix work since I work as a software developer , thats why I estimated maybe a 1-2 weeks of developing timeline + 2 weeks of testing maximum timeline instead 2 full months but again I may be wrong...

That really stinks! My CA called me past 8 pm; I found that surprising and alarming. I was to go in the next morning to meet with the Genius and take the car...nope!

I almost sold my current car. Glad I decided to keep it for the time being or I would have been in a similar situation. I don't even know what other car I would even want. If not the G42, I think I will just return to Mini...my last two cars were Coopers.

Trying to remain positive throughout this process has really tested the resolve and commitment to this process. However, and I am not sure who said in the forum, at the same time I am okay with it (the delays), for this is a luxury for me and not a necessity. While I cannot compare my situation to others (too many factors), I am fully aware of the position I am in to be able to purchase what I want. This helps keep me patient.

Since it's a software fix, I hope the factory still keeps shipping cars and not hold them until the software update is released.

I'm on day 10 since my car status was changed to Ready for transport

Goofy

Why wouldn’t this be found in QC at factory? Why build cars for a month with faulty camera ? This isn’t the way a world class manufacturer works ? Is it.

Anyone have a locked in rate extension? Mine's expiring Oct 31st. If not, strongly considering just punting my wife's built 2 Series for an Audi. Just can't imagine a ~6% "special" interest rate.

This actually is the way every manufacturer works. Cars are highly complex machines, everyone has stop sales and recalls. Lamborghini just recalled a bunch of Huracans because the doors didn't open. Toyota had to stop selling their new electric crossover because the wheels are literally falling off.

There's a lot of space between "good" and "faulty". US law requires the backup camera to work a certain way, coming on and off at certain times and speeds. If it takes 2.1 seconds for the camera image to show up when you shift to reverse you'd probably take delivery of the car but they can't sell it because that's technically not legal in the US.

Damn my CA said I couldn't test drive it because it's a liability. Thought that was BS lol
