you folks are just unbearable sometimes. BMW introduces a spec class turn key race car version of a road car many of us own and ostensibly enjoy and this is the reaction? sheesh

Some are naturally insufferable. It must be a cultural thing. Lol.

I dig the livery. The car is a blank canvas, and they took advantage of that. The blank white iterations in the past looked clean but this adds a layer of cool, IMO!

Sick to see a G87 prepped from the factory for GT use. Kind of the ultimate iteration of what these cars stand for.

Would buy.

It’s camo that invokes famous tracks, it’s not what the customer gets. You’re opinion matters though, in some small and sad circle.

Best guess is 18x11 on a 295 or 305 tire.

Fit so valid 👌🏼

And I love the fact BMW is making an affordable entry into GT4 GT3 for us beemer fans to either buy or support! Would you prefer they don’t? What would you hate on them.
Time to change you bitter and bitchy default setting I think.

Congrats, you like an ugly livery on an ugly car.

There's no hate, just a matter of opinion being shared on a public forum. I never stated that I don't want them to do anything motorsports related, nor did I comment on any aspect other than the looks of it. Time to understand that you're on the internet and not everyone will agree with your opinion.

You can’t qualify for the GT4 / GT3 category with just as you say “carbon fibre spoiler and livery”.
You say it with such conviction though and have NO technical specs to base that on.
So many BMW fans have a default setting of cynical and bitterness.

Sorry, but I think you’ve applied a cynical and bitter reading of my post .

Obviously there is more under the skin, I’ve already stated this in other posts on this thread. I wasn’t being hyper literal in saying this car ONLY has those two things. Obviously there will be other chassis, suspension, weight tuning etc. (I’m not that stupid/cynical of BMW ! ).

From an external perspective however, based on what they’ve shown us, they clearly haven’t invested much, if any effort into aero development. This is contrasted against the previous three generations of 2-series race cars where they very much did.

As someone reading this announcement, I’m therefore drawn to the conclusion that either they’ve held back and are going to announce a series of optional aero components based on class etc. (doubtful, but we’ll see), or, they simply haven’t bothered with aero development. Aero development is one of the most difficult and time-consuming tasks for teams to invest in. It’s a shame BMW didn’t help with this.

The focus of this post is the camo… which, I mean… who cares? If you’re going to demonstrate a motorsport product and woo potential buyers, you don’t start by talking about the camo. First impressions matter and this falls flat based on what they’ve released historically.

You should cover up your webcam. I just snapped this pic of you 3d scanning this car in pictures on the internet.

On a serious note i think you should read up on whats already been said, and stated in the press release. This is not a G4 car, faar from a GT3 car. Do you know what a GT4 car looks like aero wise compared to stock? This is one step lower. Thus no extra aero "bits" on it.
I think they got it covered to be honest. This is the car some people think the M2 should be. I mean those that dont understand that the M2 is a roadcar, daily driven by most owners.

I will help.. Bottom is stock, top is GT3. This car is inbetween Stock and GT4 if you want an off the shelf racing BMW.

As stated before, the M235i racing, M240i racing and M2 CS racing all had aero development and were intended for the same purpose. This is the only 2-series race car released by BMW that appears to have no aero development. This isn’t an issue of me not understanding spec classes (I do, but thanks for the pics).

I’m simply making the point that compared to historical precedence, BMW appears to have let aero/exterior elements take a back seat. This means race teams will have to do all the heavy lifting themselves, which is a shame.

Those cars are made for the BMW 240 Racing cup, previously 235 Racing cup that has their rules and regulations in place spesific for those cars. The M2 CS of the previous gen can be compared to this cars in some ways, but its also race compatible for specific classes with the aero wing on it.

I really cant see how it is hard to understand why they did not add aero to this car stock. And certanly there is no reason to think it has anything to do with either lack of know how or cost savings on BMWs part. Its purely to provide a blank canvas entry level race car platform.

This is litterally the description on top
