Things my Jeep can do that the G87 can't: get 1200 miles to a tank. No, I'm not kidding, Hybrid FTW.
Things my G87 can do that my Jeep can't: corner. I took a corner yesterday that I normally power through in the M2 & GTI, at what I call normal speed, literally said "oh shit!" out loud because I forgot this thing is like 6 feet taller than either of those cars and on mud terrains.

I found interesting that all the Jeeps at the rental car facility in HI were 4xe. We didn't have any place to charge it. So it didn't really do us any good from a fuel standpoint.

On a full charge it can. I drive to the office and hit a stretch of freeway, all electric. Pretty eerie when you're doing 70 and all you can hear is the tires. If your commute is less than 27 miles, you're not using gas in the thing. Also, if does 0-60 in 5 seconds lol.

Right, that's what I meant. After electric is up, you're stuck with the wonderful Wrangler mpgs. At least my 330e got 38 mpg highway after the electric ran out. The Wrangler with 2.0 turbo has much better overall range.

I think the TJ wrangler on old man emu with 31s is top five vehicles ever made. We’ve had 2 of them including the one we bought for our sons hs years. Love jeeps so much.

I have to agree. We picked this '03 X up for our son last year, he paid 1/2. 2 owner (1st owner 18 years) stock except for aftermarket head unit, all paperwork/maintenance records, 150k mi. Jumped on it even though he was only 14 because unmolested TJs don't come up very often. He's already added rock rails, new wheels & tires, aftermarket headlights. He finally has his permit so he's been practicing driving.

My build was $88k with a bunch of MP parts and the car looks sick. I get compliments all the time on it. I’m amazed at the value of it all considering you still get the s58 and the track with is the same as the g82

Both are similarly priced, and the Darkhorse gets insane lap times. But I don't have the pockets to regularly track my car on road courses. Drag racing is considerably cheaper, and the BMW handles more than well enough to have fun on curvy roads. https://www.thethrottlehouse.com/lea...d-track-times/ |

It's still a fair test, IMO, because both cars are factory stock.

The other thing I've heard is that DH's motor is already pretty highly tuned, while the G87 is DETUNED to preserve hierarchy. So if you are tuning, the G87 has a lot more easy power waiting to be unlocked. Disclaimer: I cannot verify this myself.
Also, unless things have improved since I last checked, it's easy to get G87s at MSRP, while DHs are commanding ADMs. My view is: if ALL you care about is the track, why aren't you grabbing a late model 1LE? If you plan on doing anything else, especially daily driving, the G87 wins pretty easily IMO. The DH engine note is awesome, I'll give it that. |

but yeah- these are all street cars. a well driven and prepped SRF - or even SMX5 - would probably beat either by a considerable margin around a track |

Someone could just as easily argue that for my $75K I could put a monster engine and fat tires in a Foxbody and get faster quarter mile times (or any number of other options). But I'll enjoy my street + strip BMW more, for other reasons. Some great cars in the 65-75 range: M2, Dark Horse, Stingray. It's just personal preference at that point. You can sort of make an argument for the Supra, but that would be last on my list. |

As someone else mentioned, the Cup 2 240 tyres that BMW fits as an option on G87s in markets outside of the US are quite a bit less sticky than the Cup 2 or Cup 2R (competitive to the Trofeo RS). The Cup 2 240 is much closer to the PS4S.
