Nope, sorry. That is the same as using available light. Turning on a switch isn't the kind of "controlling the light" that rodi is looking for. Now, if you put some blue or red scotch tape on the LEDs to change the color cast, I think that might count....

That's the idea! You used a piece of paper to bounce the light where you wanted it.

do me and my dog count? if we do, it doesnt have to be taken with my DSLR right?

What you can do is adjust the brightness of the dashboard (via the left stalk on the steering wheel). That should make it eligible because you did control the background light.

Lol techinally I did turn it up to get more orange, it was about a month before the photo was taken :P

Yeah controlling light is a good idea for a theme in theory but not when there is no CLEAR outlines of what is and what isn't acceptable. I mean i used off camera lights there i took a couple of shots without them on and a couple with them on... If you ask me that is controlling the light, its not an automatic light like the sun.

but since he took it in a dark garage, to avoid other light sources spilling through the windows, or having random colors from outside bouncing into the car, he's kind of controlling it, no? maybe placing a flash inside the car, to have it fire when he shoots would be more to the liking of 'controlled lighting'?

shot this on 35mm bw film. had one hot light, with two skrims and a set of barn doors on it to narrow down where the light would hit, placed about 8 feet high, pointing down on my subject, camera right.

If so, I have a few similar.. just checking.

This is taken with 3 580EX II, yes, 3. no photoshop adjustment made, other than adding the border.

You can probaby tell from pic that there are multiple sources of light as there are no shadow (light source from front, and at 45 degrees angle the other 2).
