LOL. Thanks everyone! Sorry I was traveling. I just got back. I'm sure you guys have picked a new theme since it's been a few days. If not, anyone can pick a theme as I really can't think of anything at the moment.

spring flowers.... in macro preferably.
yes, i'm aware how gay that sounds, but it's a seasonal opportunity that forces us to go outside and not sift through our hard drives for something we've already taken long ago. I dunno. |

BTW, just in case some here have the tools and don't realize it, you don't need a macro lens to take macros. A short tele with a teleconverter works well because the minimum focus distance doesn't change and you get mulitplication. Adding an Extension Tube makes almost any lens a true macro lens and they're inexpensive. I use a 1.4x TC, combined with a 25mm ET to make by 500mm and 70-200mm lenses into great macros. For the 70-200mm I can throw on diopiter lenses to get even more magnification. With the 500mm it's kind of neat to have a dragon fly fill the frame from 9-feet away. Mine was about $89. Like everything else, they've gone up a bit.

I'll just stick with my 100mm macro for now. If i didn't have the macro, i might opt for that idea. and just put it on my 50 1.8 |

Oops, that's actually a bumble bee. I was thinking about a dragonfly image when I wrote and then when I went to grab an image, the bee grabbed me. Just click on the pic and it'll take you to my Flickr site where you can see the EXIF info, a full sized file, etc.

See here:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search...tialSearch=yes Yeah, if you've already got a 100mm macro lens, then an ET is not really needed. However, they can be used together if you can't get close enough even with your macro. I just mentioned ETs because many people don't realize how good their short teles (and long teles for those that have them) are as macro lenses. One huge advantage is that you get luxurious working distances, particularly vs. a 60mm dedicated macro lens. People that go crazy in macro invest in a specialize macro lens that allows 5-to-1 mulitplication, but is extremely hard to use at very close focusing distance that are hard to light and have wafer thin DOF. Most casual macro shooters can use ETs or a dual purpose lens like your 100mm. Dave

Yeah, when you get an ET, you should try it with every lens that you own. You'll see new perspectives every time.
