Official times for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s second Pirelli test have been revealed 👀

Leclerc was the fastest with a best time of 1:14.971 (74 laps).
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri set a lap time of 1:15.815 (74 laps)
Hamilton’s best time was 1:16.759 (152 laps).

Still just a test. Too many unknowns like air temp, track temp and fuel loads to name a few. But information none the less

Nearly 2 seconds faster than LEW, certainly a change from the first test but still the times count for the '25 tyres.

Ham has reported that he was more comfortable in the F23/24 than he was the W13/15. Next 2 years are going to be WDC 8 and 9.

Ferrari SF-25 on the dynamic benches: positive feedback on suspensions:
— Ferrari has completed initial testing of the SF-25’s suspension system, with positive results from the “seven post rig” evaluation. This test replicates real track conditions, helping engineers analyze the car’s behavior over bumps and imperfections.
— Early reports indicate that the suspension changes have been successful, aligning with simulator data.
“According to the first news received by our editorial staff, the examinations relating to the operation of the suspensions have been successful (more will come). This is a crucial aspect to understand in detail the dynamics of the single-seater, especially in relation to the suspension schemes adopted.”
— While further validation is needed on track, initial signs suggest Ferrari’s approach is on the right path.
“And although this scenario will have to find further feedback, even on the track, the road is the right one.”
— The SF-25 will be officially presented on February 19, followed by a shakedown at Fiorano before pre-season testing begins in Bahrain on February 26.

With the new pull front and kept push rear Charlie will have to get used to it in spite of the promising tests and LEW has been using 'RB' set up with Merc as already stated.

I'm playing the role of Killed by Death Hamilton friend, so win or lose, I have to root for him.

Of course he's going to win though:

Quote:
three machines— The most interesting aspect of the tests carried out is the fact that Lewis was able to drive the Ferrari SF-23 from two years ago and the SF-24 from last season (although modified to adapt to the prototype tyres). In both cases, he had good feelings. Praising the behaviour of the cars. Even that of the SF-23, considered a “difficult” single-seater. Some say that Hamilton immediately found himself better than the Mercedes he has driven in recent seasons. Now the final step is missing: driving the Ferrari SF-25.
And

Quote:
optimism— No one at Ferrari has any doubts that Hamilton will be super competitive at the event. The growth shown in these first weeks of apprenticeship with the red team makes Vasseur optimistic. And that message launched by Lewis on social media a few days ago also suggests it: "I can't wait for the first race...". The key for Ferrari will be to give Lewis and Charles a fast and easy-to-interpret car. This could be an important factor in seeing the best Hamilton again in qualifying, where he was lacking in 2024, losing out to George Russell. The Prancing Horse ended last season on the up, battling with McLaren for the constructors' title until the last race, so the conditions seem to be there to see the golden pair of the red team fighting for the World Championship. Sebastian Vettel needed just two races to win the 2015 Malaysian GP with Ferrari . How many will Hamilton need
What blows me away is how this forum with slobber over Piasti, Norris, Sainz, and Leclerc, but will pretend that a guy who won 8 WDC is a scrub.

I don't think pull vs push rods at the rear make much difference in drivability. It's more packaging and aero decision at the rear. Charlie should be much happier I hope.

Ferrari: greater efficiency for the release of the 066/15 power unit

— Ferrari has completed the first ignition of its 066/15 power unit, marking a key milestone ahead of the 2025 season. This ritual, known as “fire up,” confirms the completion of the engine’s design phase and ensures all components are functioning properly before the car hits the track.

— The process involves extensive preparation, including testing all parameters related to the power unit and ensuring the battery pack is fully charged. Engineers connect their computers to the engine control unit (ECU) to monitor critical data, while an external pump circulates heated coolant to prevent component abrasion.

— Once the engine reaches optimal operating temperatures, an electric start system circulates lubricant through the internal components before ignition. Under the supervision of Ferrari power unit chief Enrico Gualtieri, the V6 engine was successfully fired up, running at idle speeds of 3,000-4,000 rpm while maintaining stable temperatures.

— Despite the development freeze imposed since 2022, Ferrari has made improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the 066/15 unit. Adjustments to external components in the temperature management system are expected to improve performance, aligning with the aerodynamic advancements of the SF-25.

— These refinements aim to maximize power output in qualifying while optimizing fuel consumption over race distances, reinforcing Ferrari’s push for competitiveness in the final season before F1’s 2026 engine regulation overhaul.

The car will be different animal with this set up for Charlie to master, looking forward to the track testing after the launches and how it compares with the RB 21, the days are clicking down.
