GoodRX is an online service. If you join GoodRX, free, your pharmacy might have a discounted rate. I don’t know. Just a thought. https://www.goodrx.com/

Went in to a room the other night to get something and didn’t turn the light on and the door started to close which made it dark and I bent over to get something and fell over and couldn’t get up.

I couldn’t see and I panicked a bit and lost my breath struggling to get up. Finally after a few minutes of struggling I made it to my feet gasping for breath.

I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. From now on when I enter that room (extra room for storage) I’ll turn the light on first. I usually count on the hallway light to see but the door closed by itself.

Looking back I must’ve looked like a turtle on its back trying to right itself which sounds funny, but seriously, it scared me.

Yeah, that sounds a little scary. I have claustrophobia and being down in a dark, what sounds like basically a closet would not be fun.

Full size bedroom that we keep extra supplies in.

It was late and my wife was asleep. Nobody else in the house. Could’ve gone bad very easily.

The only door in the house that closes by itself. Will never get caught in there in the dark again.

Light switch? How 20th century! Haven't touched one in a while since I installed Home Assistant, thanks to home/away triggers, occupancy sensors, and Siri being able to control everything (and call 911!) just by pressing the crown on my Apple Watch.....

I have work that needs to be done in my crawlspace. It's a 3'x3' area between the garage foundation and the house foundation. Mostly used for the water pipes. But you have to climb through a "window" that's about 6' up, which means using a step ladder and going in head first. I've done it years ago, but there's no way I'd try that now. I need to find a good handyman who isn't overweight or older than I.

And what is it with getting old that makes getting up from the floor so hard? I cycle 100+ miles/wk and walk 1.5-3mi/day. My legs are not weak. Yet I can't get up from the ground or floor without something to grab onto. Like today, I was setting up Xmas lights outside and had to get down on my knees a few times. I could just picture my neighbor across the street chuckling at me as I struggled to get up again.

I walk and exercise too. Legs and knees are in good health, but I struggle to get up as well.

Just getting old. That's why we're here in this thread...

Also having some balance issues these days.

Same. I walk like I'm about to fall over. Almost a stagger sometimes.

For me it's leaning forward. I feel like I'm going to fall forward, and I did that night I wrote about in my earlier post above.

Just gotta be careful.

How 2010's! In Chez Vreihen, the Apple TV box handles the door lock automagically whenever a house resident arrives home. The home automation announcer even tells OCD psycho dog who is about to walk through the front door long before they reach the door knob.....

Soon you will catch up with The Jetsons, circa 2062.

I’m probably more like Fred Flinstone.
