Super sunset Ed.
It was foggy here yesterday, but it made conditions great for shooting white birds: Snowy Egret Glides By by David Stephens, on Flickr

While I'm at it:
Shake, shake, shake by David Stephens, on Flickr I've got a series of shots of this osprey diving head and feet first and going totally under water, but coming up empty handed. I may post more later, but this is my favorite from the series. Maybe next time, he'll come up with a big old walleye.

I am terrible at predicting what will be a popular shot on my Flickr. Sometimes I think I have nailed it and it gets hardly any attention, while another shot that I thought twice about even posting gets explored and gets a million hits.
Such is the case of this one.I love the over the shoulder glance and the look in his eye, along with the mid air catch of his trot, but it hasn't been that popular. Oh well, I still like it. Outta Here by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Generally I avoid butt shots, but this has the coyote looking back at you and in the air, so it works for me.

Yeah, I usually avoid butt shots as well, but when he looked back, I fired off a few and liked the result. It's no masterpiece, but I like it when it flashes by on my Flickr slideshow on the TV. I wish it would rain so we could get some green grass too. All that dead brown stuff makes for terrible bokeh

We had a really green summer, but it's all to brown now. We get around 8-months per year of brown. I think that coyote look good against brown.

I went up to the NWRs yesterday. The geese are arriving, but the place is bone dry except for a couple of managed areas that they pump water into. Could be a tough year if we don't get some rain soon.

Got to hang around with this lot this weekend. Lot of fun feeding and playing with the ring tailed lemurs.
Got to also spend some time with Taj. We played hide and seek...let's just say he kept winning. Out running a tiger at my age is definitely not an option.

I love the wipeouts!
I remember this day well because it was the first day where i had about 75% of the images on the CF card are in focus and well exposed. I was ecstatic because up until that day, i was only getting about 10% to 15%.

Looks like a fun day! Except for the being chased by a tiger part.

I haven't water skied in 30+ years and still remember some of my "best" wipeouts, including the one that caused bruised ribs when the keel broke off my slalom ski. Alas, hardly any picture survive and no wipeout pix.
Love the wake-jump series. Dave

Taken with a point and click camera. This little guy ran up onto the rock to watch me go by in my Jeep, so I stopped, got the camera, and "pointed and clicked"; it turned out pretty good:
