I found a glenfiddich 14 in my shelf. Must have been a present or something

First neat. Didn't bite or anything. Missed the flavor profile they mentioned

Put 2 rocks and had another. Not much different

In 2 weeks will return to see if air makes a bit of difference

Has anyone tried Pendleton Directors Reserve? It is their 20yr blend. Debating getting my Dad a bottle for Christmas, he is a fan of canadian whiskey. Reviews look good, and I think I found it for a solid price, $99.

If anyone has any info please let me know!!

Have not, but interested in what you find if you choose to go this route. Usually not a fan of Pendleton given my life long dissent for the town and rodeo for which its named

As for getting the old man a bottle for Christmas, I love your style.. Got this for the old man last night.

Haha funny you mention the Whistle Pig, I was debating a bottle of that if I didn't hear any comments back. I know Whistle Pig is tried and true!

Wife got me some great birthday gifts today, not the least of which was this bad boy which was a limited edition and terribly hard to come by. Props to her!

Yes. Their normal choices are nice, but the three wood is exponentially better and being limited, nearly impossible to find. I have no idea where she got it and she refuses to tell me.

I will have to keep my eyes open - I was thinking I saw a three wood recently.

These are hands down the best pours I have had in a while. The bite of the whiskey opens to strong vanilla and coffee/chocolate stout notes. Wow.

You did Hawk. You did. But Mrs. Run Silent just liberated it from your collection and now Mr. Run Silent is enjoying it. That's where she got it from.

I just saw a three wood (though the box looked different) in the LCBO today for $79. But since my prices are about double yours, I figured this could not possibly be the same one, so I passed on it and bought an Ardbeg 10 instead for $99.

On another note, I always find it frustrating that I can't get the same selection of spirits as you guys. Obtanium might as well be unobtanium around here.

So there is a blue box and a gray box - I've confirmed they are the same thing, just updated packaging.

Price in the USA is not crazy - about $60 USD - drinks like a bottle twice that much though.

Full of butterscotch and toffee notes. Think Dalmore 12 or aberlour a'bunadh but with even more flavor profile. A hidden gem.

Bought a bottle of Blue Label today and had a dram today. Good whisky, not sure if it's truly worth the 175 dollars I paid for it though...

Choosing between Glenlivet 18 vs Macallan 15 as a gift for colleague. Which would you go with?

Always up for new friends. So Macallan has the name which would make for a nice gift. Glenlivet is # 1 selling in US and has the age (18 vs 15). What to do?

For that price point - I would stick Macallan due to the name - but skip the 15 yr and grab a special edition or if you can find one - the 'Classic Cut' cask strength at 120 proof. Stuff knocks it out of the park and blows away the 15. I can taste the difference between the Macallan 12 and 15, but I wouldn't say the 15 is actually any better.

Where I am Classic Cut is $120 vs $90 for Glenlivet 18. Worth the difference?

Ha ha sucker, that's Canadian prices, you made my day knowing someone else has to pay the stupid amounts I do.

Yeah, I'd go Macallan too, and the Classic Cut blows away the Glenlivet IMO. But that's just one opinion, others may vary. I don't mind Glenlivet, but I've never had one where I said "that was fantastic". Its good, but seems sort of rounded too much - nothing really stands out one way or another. Nothing objectionable, but nothing that goes "wow" either.
