The posts referring to 2022 are from January 2020 and the post referring to 4/2023 is from March 2021, so the latter is far more current information.

The "i3" name is being officially reassigned to the Chinese 3-series EVs.

But ynguldyn is the one to listen to when it comes to production vehicle info. A G81 is different from a CS or CSL or what have you. Sure, it's not going to be huge volume. But it's just not the type of vehicle you market as a "special" deal. Same reason you don't see these come in the final year or whatever (I was actually surprised it's trailing the LCI by even a few months - but I forgot to consider the fact that the G21 goes longer than the G20 which helps justify that). I mean if you go through the effort to create stampings for the fenders, rework all sorts of stuff (see the F81 conversions for how much needs to change), it doesn't make sense to only produce it for a short time.
The previous two ///M Touring that went into production were also limited (E34 M5 - 1000units/891(2*) built/ E61 1200units/1,025 built).

*Theres one special E34 M5 Touring used for development purposes stashed away in a vault, unseen by the public to this day.

Its not that it's going to be produced over a short time, but that the additional time and complexities require it to be a bit segregated from the standard line.

What?! So they are gonna have 2 completely different i3 models for different markets? That's genius!

Nothing new. 2 series is both 2 door sports car and a 7 seater minivan.

Just a little "titbit" - the hybrid power train of the G70 M750Le will be the entry-level power train in the upcoming XM

Gotcha. I sort of touched on that idea of "cadence" in this post.

It really does feel like this one will be more popular than the any previous M touring though. I have to believe they somewhat expect that to be the case and can account for higher demand.

I see that you've also listed EOP date for the existing I01 i3 - June 2022 (this may have been added awhile back, but I just noticed it).

Given the early-2022 sales start date for the i4, one could expect the G28 i3 at a similar time. So even in China, it looks like there won't be much overlap (if any).

If this is true, that's cool. Very interested in all things upcoming about the XM.

Is it the same as today's X5 45e or is it a new powertrain?

It will feature a B58 with electric assistance like the 45e, but it should offer significantly more power. Somewhere around 500hp would be a reasonable expectation.

It will be a similar phev drivetrain to today's 745e but with an updated B58 engine, a more powerful yet more efficient electric motor & a gen 5 battery pack. It will crank out well over 500hp combined & around 750NM (553 lb ft) of torque.

ynguldyn you wrote back in November:

The electric version of the next generation X1 (will be sold as "iX1") will be available in single-motor and dual-motor configurations with two range options. As a hint of motor power output, the designation for the single motor model will use "20" and the dual motor will use "30".
It's clear that the regular X1 will be FWD, but is it known already whether the iX1 sDrive will be FWD or RWD? And I guess we can assume the dual motor version will be AWD and they won't put two motors on the same axle?

According to the rumor mill it will be FWD.
