Way back when I worked at my dad’s mom and pop TV sales and service
store, we witnessed a wide variety of customers. When writing up an item
for repair, we’d try to get a useful description of the problem. Some customers provided helpful info, but others simply had no imagination. Their answer: “It doesn’t work.”

I learned a lot during my 23 years in that business, but I don’t miss it. I count
it as a good stepping stone to my 21 year electronics technician job in ITS at our local university.

Reminds me of an old story:
Freshman arrives for the first day at Harvard (back when it was respected). Can’t find the library so approaches an upperclassman, and asks, “Where’s the library at?”
The upper classman bristles and says, “Young man, you are at Harvard now. We use proper English here, and you’ve ended your question with a preposition. Please rephrase it properly!”
To which the freshman, after a moment of thought, says, “Where’s the library at, asshole?”
